The Nigeria singer Oluwakayode Junior Balogun popularly known as Barry Jhay is an award-winning singer and son of one of Nigeria’s greatest fuji music singers, Sikiru Ololade Ayinde Balogun but he is better known as Ayinde Balogun. Barry Jhay was raised in the music scene little wonder he started recording at the tender age of 5.

The talented singer, Barry Jhay was born in Ibadan, Oyo State of Nigeria on 13th February 1993. He was raised in Ibadan in the southwestern part of Nigeria. He completed his primary and secondary education in the state but did not attend any university because he was more interested in music production than to further his education.

Barry Jhay never wanted to do music in his early years until his father passed away. He decided to venture into music to preserve his father’s legacy. After his hit single ‘Aiye‘ earned him the publicity he needed, Barry Jhay released the album Barry Back on 28 February 2020. The album currently has more than 2 million streams on all music streaming platforms. his unique and distinct vocals have given him many advantages in his musical career.
Barry Jhay won The Rookie of the Year Award for 2019 and began his following year with his single, O Ga Ra while he was still working on his project. He was also nominated as The Most Promising Act of the Year by the City People Music Award, 2019.
The singer was also nominated as The Best Street-Hop artiste at The Headies Award 2019. He won The Best Act of the Year at the City People Music Awards, 2018, and also rookie of the year at The Headies Award, 2019.
Who is Barry Jhay’s Boss, Kashy?
The Nigerian fast-rising singer, Barry Jhay currently signed to the Cash Nation Entertainment music label. His boss is Babatunde Oyerinde Abiodun popularly known as Kashy. Kashy is the CEO/ owner of the record label, Cash Nation Entertainment music label. He was arrested for questioning sometime in June 2020 for his alleged involvement in cybercrime. Due to his suspicious lifestyle, he was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) based on information that was gathered about him.
According to reports, Kashy used the proceeds of his fraudulent activities to fund his lavish lifestyle and has been moving from Nigeria to the United Arab Emirates. EFFCC also linked his arrest to the confession made by Kashy’s domestic staff, Thomas Aliu Akwu. Akwu confessed that he had several accounts in which his boss, ashy receives money frequently. The law enforcement agency further added that Kashy would be charged to court.
On March 7, 2021, it was reported that Kashy committed suicide. This was confirmed few hours after Barry Jhay and his boss had a serious fight in Ghana. It was speculated that Kashy jumped out of a three-story building in ghana. Many Nigerians, as well as Ghanaians on social media, have called on the authorities to investigate the death of the record label boss.
What Barry Jhay Has to do With the Death of His Boss, Kashy
Prior to the untimely death of Kashy, barry Jhay had accused him of physically abusing him in a video he shared online. It was stated that the two were having some issues over some Ghana accounts and also the label-related issues. The actual cause of death of the record label boss is still sketchy as investigations are still ongoing.
Barry Jhay was later arrested in Ghana in connection to the death of his record label boss. it is believed that the video barry Jhay had earlier shared had a connection with the death of Kashy. Accusations began to roll in after the news of Kashy’s death broke.
Someone called Rina who claims to be Kashy’s friend and brother shared his WhatsApp story where he wrote, “My brother gave you Benz worthy nine million naira. He gave you his Hublot worth 15 million Naira. You’re dead Barry Jhay.” In another post, the same person shared “He was putting on his shoes and some blogs and idiots are saying he committed suicide. My brother was killed. He further claimed in a third slide that members of a confraternity which Barry Jhay is a member, killed Kashy while another source claimed that the fear of the military police made Kashy jump off the balcony.
As of the time of this writing, Barry Jhay’s management has not issued any statement regarding his involvement in the murder of his boss.
