One Direction, the world-famous English-Irish pop boy band, may be set to reunited very soon.
The band is reportedly in discussions about performing together for the first time since their split in 2016.
This recent development follows the announcement that Liam Payne will be honored posthumously at the BRIT Awards. Recall that the world was left in shock on October 16, 2024, when Liam tragically passed away at the age of 31 after a devastating fall from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
After Liam’s death, an autopsy revealed that the singer died instantly from “multiple traumatic injuries” resulting in “internal and external hemorrhage.” Reports suggest that the BRIT Awards will honor the late singer, who is survived by his seven-year-old son, Bear, from his relationship with former X Factor judge Cheryl.
Now, insiders are suggesting that the remaining members of One Direction—Zayn Malik, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Niall Horan—may reunite for a special performance to honor their late bandmate.
A source revealed to The Sun: “The tribute to Liam at this year’s BRIT Awards has created a lot of excitement and fueled speculation that the remaining members of One Direction might reunite on stage. It would be a deeply fitting way to honor Liam, and discussions are already underway to make this segment of the show truly unforgettable.”
The insider hinted that the One Direction members might not perform alone, suggesting other artists could join the tribute. Since their formation on ITV’s talent show in 2010, the band has won an impressive seven BRIT Awards, according to The Mirror.
A source from the BRITs shared that Liam “loved” the event and emphasized that he will “forever be part of the show’s history.”
The source added: “Plans are still in the early stages, and the finer details are being finalized, with official invitations set to go out in the coming weeks. The tribute is expected to include a mix of performances, tasteful photo and video montages, and a live orchestra.”
In a heartfelt gesture, Clevedon Pier recently unveiled a plaque in Liam’s honor. The pier holds special significance as he and his former One Direction bandmates filmed parts of their You and I music video there on March 25, 2014.
Clevedon Pier’s official account shared a photo on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing the new plaque alongside the original one marking One Direction’s visit. The new plaque reads: “Remembering Liam Payne – One Direction. 29.08.1993 – 16.10.2024.”
