It was as Héctor Eduardo Reglero Montaner, that the singer was born on September 8, 1957. He would spend the next seven years in Valentín Alsina, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, where he was birthed, before his family later moved to Venezuela.
Like most great singers, he started singing when he was still just a boy in the church choir.

After the first international performance of Héctor Eduardo Reglero Montaner in Peru, the young singer felt he needed a name for his professional career and so he decided to settle for his maternal family name and so he came up with Ricardo Montaner.

The singer began his career journey with the release of Mares, his first single in 1976. However, it would take him until 1983 before he finally got to release his first-ever album, Cada Día. It was not the best of albums, but it sure gave him a good footing.
