Daichi Miura was born in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan on August 24, 1987. His father was a member of Japan’s Self Defense Force and due to the nature of his job, he moved the family around a lot. He owes his music and dance career to the encouragement of his mother, who enrolled him in an art school at a very young age.
He decided to become a professional musician after he completed his junior college education and has been a force to reckon with in the Japanese music industry for about 2 decades now.

1. He bought his first compact disc as a child
Most children born in the 1980s usually looked forward to the day they would get their first Compact Disc (CD) player and would begin to enjoy music in their ears. Daichi’s very first CD which he bought was an album of pop legend Michael Jackson titled “History”. He fell in love immediately with the uniqueness of Michael’s voice and dance moves and tried emulating them to the best of his ability.
2. He has been influenced by some of the greats
Daichi grew up listening to and loving the music of popular American musicians such as the late Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Usher and inspirational Japanese music composer Hitoshi Matsumoto. 3. His mother saw him dancing and sent him to art school
Daichi loved to dance as a child and he would impact dance to anything that had rhythm. When he was 6, his mother saw him dancing to the theme music of an Anime series on television and was so impressed that she decided to enrol him at the Okinawa Actor’s School, where he learnt how to dance and sing.
4. Daichi Miura formed a group, FOLDER
When he turned 10, he teamed up with a few other musicians and formed the group called Folder, where he was the lead singer. The group released its very first single titled “Parachuter”, and he chose to be known simply as DAICHI, and he has maintained this name pretty much throughout his career.

As a vocalist/singer, nothing devastates you more than losing your voice or having vocal cords issues, and as Daichi grew older and the realities of puberty began to set in, his voice began to change from what both he and his fans were used to, and this affected his self-confidence very badly – so much so that he had to quit his music group and focus on other things temporarily.

Daichi came to prominence as the lead vocalist of the group, Folder, but it needs to be said that he is not a one-trick pony as he is also extremely good at playing a few musical instruments. He plays the guitar, piano, Cajon and drums extremely well, and he is also known to have performed solo concerts using digital music creation instruments such as the Ableton Push.

On January 1, 2015, he got married to his present wife and chose not to disclose her identity to the media, but word has it that she is definitely not a celebrity. He used his Instagram account to announce the birth of his first son in 2016 by posting a picture of his beautiful hands and thanking his family and fans for their support. He used the same medium to announce the birth of his second child in 2019, sharing a picture of the newborn’s hands and a “fatherly” message as well.
