Ice Spice’s Parents, Joseph Gaston and Charina Almanzar are not as famous as their 24-year-old daughter who made a name for herself as a rising rapper following her participation in the Erica Bank’s Buss It Challenge as well as her viral rap uploads of Munch(Feelin’ U) on TikTok. Nonetheless, this has not stopped them from supporting her from the background. Ever since then, she has continued to dazzle followers and fans with more releases. On their own, Joseph Gaston was an underground rapper while her mother, Charina had a good head for business.
Though she is a popular member of her family, she is not the only child born to her parents. Ice Spice grew up with four other siblings following her parent’s short-lived marriage. Here is all we found out about her parents and other family members.
Let’s Meet Ice Spice’s Parents
Ice Spice was born Isis Naija Gaston on January 1, 2000, in the Bronx. Though she once revealed that she has links to Nigeria, she did not state the parent that linked her to the West African country.
The situation around her birth was that her mother had her when she was just 17 years old. Admittedly, her parents first met at a McDonald’s in the neighborhood she grew up in and got so serious about their love by getting married.
While the younger Charinda who is of Dominican origin and her African American father seemed to have it all figured out, events would prove otherwise when they eventually divorced two years later when Isis was two years old. As a result, Ice Spice’s upbringing involved her grandparents who had to step in to enable her parents to work and make a living.
Joseph Gaston
As mentioned, he is of African-American descent, and as with most people of his background who grew up in the Bronx, Joseph was exposed to rap and hip-hop back in the day. Though he keeps a low profile, we gathered that he was also passionate about underground rap.
Unsurprisingly, he rubbed this off his young daughter who is said to have discovered rap when she was 7 years old. He was an influence on his daughter’s career path as he started taking her to the studio at a young age. Isis made it clear that he encouraged her to do what she liked but he was just an underground rapper. She made this clarification to show that she was not an industry plant, someone who is groomed and made to look like they struggled to get to where they are.
Charinda Almanzar
She is of Dominican ancestry and used to work at a car dealership when Ice Spice was much younger. For years, the Dominican native and mother of the Bikini Bottom rapper stayed away from the limelight till she surfaced vibing to her daughter’s Deli. The online video led to a search for her on platforms like Instagram.
As with most celebrity parents who stay in the background, many thought Almanzar was such a cute woman yet, she seems to be inactive on social media.
Regardless of this, we may not be wrong to say that her background support of her daughter’s career has paid off well if her career exploits are anything to go by.
So far, Ice Spice has released many singles and an EP titled Like as of this writing, She has collaborated with artists like Lil Tjay and Taylor Swift. Also, she has garnered accolades and a Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players award to show for all the work she is putting into growing her Bronx drill rap.

She is the Oldest of Five Siblings
Ice Spice may have put her parent’s names in the spotlight, especially among lovers of her genre of music, yet, she is not the only child born to the couple.
It is generally believed that she is the oldest of five siblings. Considering that her parents were married for only two years, it is unclear whether they gave birth to her other siblings together or with other partners they met after they parted ways.
Regarding how Isis’ fame rubbed off on them. We can infer that it is in a good way. Prior, they had suffered from bullying but ever since Ice Spice came to the limelight, they got preferential treatment from classmates. Moreso, they all seem to have a cordial relationship which is reasonable looking at Spice’s open declaration of love for her siblings.
