Tracy Wormworth is an American bass guitarist whose contributions to the music industry has exposed her to attracting fame as well as set her up to work with a great number of artists and bands including ‘The Waitresses’, ‘David Lee Roth’, ‘Lena Home’, ‘Houston’  ‘Des’ree’, ‘The B-52’s and Paula Abdul’.

Aside from being known for her playing the bass guitar, Wormworth is famous to be part of a celebrity family. Her father Jimmy Wormworth has also established himself as a jazz drummer, while her brother James Wormworth is ‘The Conan O’Brien Show’ drummer James Wormworth. More to this, she has a vocalist sister named Mary Wormworth .

1. She Started To Play The Bass Guitar With The Help Of The Guy She Was Dating As A Teenager

When she was still a teenager, Wormworth had a relationship with a bass player who gifted her first bass. With a lot of practising, she soon became a good bassist that would add value to the music industry for decades with her talent.

2. Wormworth Started Her Professional Career With ‘The Waitresses’

Since Tracy has always tried to keep out from the media, little is known about her what her life was before fame. Nevertheless, she started enjoying fame for her role as a member of a new wave band ‘The Waitresses’. The band had members such as Chris Butler, late Patty Donahue, Billy Ficca, Dan Clayman, Mars Williams, David Hofstra, Ariel Warner, and Holly Beth Vincent.

The band started its career in 1978 and split after 6 years in 1984. They are mostly remembered for their singles ‘I Know What Boys Like’ and ‘Christmas Wrapping’. More to this, the band added to their achievements 2 albums – ‘Wasn’t Tomorrow Wonderful?’(1982) and ‘Bruiseology’ (1983). They also made two EPs, ‘I Could Rule the World If I Could Only Get the Parts’ (1982).

3. She Was Recommended To The B-52s By A Friend

When ‘The Waitresses’ fell apart, Wormworth was still determined to continue with her career which landed her to having other gigs including getting to be auditioned for the B-52s in 1990 when Sara Lee wanted to take a break from touring. Her gig with the B-52s came after she got recommended by her friend Alison Palmer.

4. Tracy Wormworth Lied About To Be Get A Job With The Rosie O’Donnel Show On NBC

Rosie O’Donnell, an actress, comedian, author, producer, and TV personality saw to it that she created a show called ‘The Rosie O’Donnel Show’ which was premiered in 1996.

When the show needed a bassist, they wanted to hire a one who could do upright bass as well as electric. Unfortunately for her, she only had knowledge of playing electric. Still, Tracy was lucky enough that she was asked to play on an electric, and subsequently, she played upright once, but the song was in A.

With the Rosie O’Donnel Show, she featured as a bassist from 1996 to 2001 in the 6 seasons of the show.

5. Is Tracy Wormworth Married?

Since most aspects of her personal life have remained concealed, it is rather difficult to know if Wormworth has ever been married.

In terms of her relationships, Tracy dated Kenny Kirkland. Although he died in 1998 at the age of 43, he became a well-known pianist who started his professional career in 1973 and worked with many artists and bands including fusion violinist Michal Urbaniak, Miroslav Vitous, Charles Fambrough, Jeff Tain Watts, and Sting where Tracy played and started touring with the band from the fall of 1987 to 1988.

6. Playing Musical Instruments Is Deep Rooted In Tracy’s Family

As mentioned above, Tracy’s family members are well-known for involving themselves in music, especially playing musical instruments.

The long list of playing instruments in her family is traced to her paternal grandfather James Wormworth II who was an African-American jazz drummer and pianist. Also, her paternal grandmother’s sister, Dick Mariana had a career as Utica tenor saxophonist.

7. Her Net Worth And Where She Is Now

Being part of the creation of many music and tours has opened doors for Tracy to gain not only fame but earn a fortune from it. Even though her exact earning is not known, it is very possible that her many years serving as a bassist has given her an approximated net worth that is above $1 million.

As to her whereabouts, there hasn’t been a lot of information about her since the 2011 album of ‘The B-52’s’ titled ‘With the Wild Crowd! Live in Athens’. However, a number of articles have suggested she is still a touring member of the ‘B-52’s’

Also, it is not certain if she’s active on social media even though there are quite a number of pages posing as her.  However, it has not been proven if any belong to her.
