Nickey Alexander is an American hard-rock drummer whose abrupt disappearance from the limelight since 2007 has garnered several questions. While no alarming news has been reported by his former bandmates who are still in the musical industry, it is widely believed that he has opted for a private life.
Nickey’s career kicked off in his hometown San Pedro, however, his arrival to the hearts of Hollyhood in the late 70s saw him capture the hearts of many fans with his magical drumstick. He also became part of several bands including ‘The Weirdos’, ‘LA Gun’, ‘The Germs’, ‘The Dickies’, and the ‘Mau-Mau’.
Nickey Alexander’s Last Performance Was in 2007
For the last 15 years, details about Nickey Alexander’s whereabouts have remained elusive to the public. However, while several conclusions have been drawn about his sudden disappearance from the limelight including being deceased, we choose to rather believe that he has opted for a private life.
As you would find, there have been no unfortunate reports from this former bandmate that prove that he is heart and hearty. His last performance dates back to 2007 when he played for a sub-version of the L.A Guns band known as Tracii Guns.
Nonetheless, other band members such as Paul Black and Mick Cripps are still active in the industry and have found ways to rebrand their songs and tunes from the 90s into classics.

1. He is a Native of San Pedro
Though famous by his stage name, Nickey Beats birth name is Jeffrey Ivisovich. However, details about Nickey’s early life, family background, parents, and siblings are unknown but we can establish that he is a native of San Pedro, Los Angeles.
He spent most of his early days there and it is believed that he also had his basic education there.
2. He Relocated to Hollywood in 1975 to Pursue His Musical Career
Nickey moved to Hollywood in the mid-70s and started off with the Kim Fowley and assemblage before he was introduced to ‘The Weirdos’ band who had been without a drummer since the start of the band between 1976/1977.
Nickey had to cut his hair to join the art-rock band that was from was fronted by the brothers, John Denney- a lead vocalist, and Dix Denney – a guitarist alongside Cliff Roman and Dave Trout. They were known for songs such as Teenage, I’m Not Like You, Bad Bad, and Scream Baby Scream.
Unfortunately, the band split for a few years but reunited in the 80s and got started with semi-regular home recording which was accompanied by their reunion shows at the Stardust Ballroom in Hollywood.
Following this, the band was relaunched by the Denney brothers and maintained Nickey Alexander as a drummer. It was also at this time that they recorded one of their biggest hit album, The Condor (1990).

3. Nickey Alexander Juggled Several Bands
Between the time Nickey joined ‘The Weirdos’ and their 2 years plus spilt, the San Pedro born made a brief appearance with other bands such as ‘The Germs’ on the Lexicon Devil EP, ‘The Dickies’, and the ‘Mau-Mau’.
Later, he became part of the ‘L. A. Guns’ band and was featured in the band’s debut album L. A. Guns in 1987 before he left to Join the ‘Vicious Circle’ from the year 1986 to 1987. At that time, he also made the compilation albums Black City Breakdown, Hollywood Raw, and Black list.
Subsequently, Nickey performed with the short-lived band ‘H.A.T..E.’ and made three recordings with them.
Moving on, he played for the ‘Tracii Guns’ a new version of L.A. Guns which was set up following the emergence of a new band with the same name.
4. Nickey Alexander was Inspired by the Drummer Karen Carpenter
Throughout the 80s and 90s, Nickey Alexander was renowned as one of the best drummers in Hollywood. He later made it known that his favorite drummer Karen Carpenter should be applauded for inspiring him.
Even though Karen was already dead at the time, Nickey revealed that he learned from just watching her on the television.
