Lewis Hamilton’s Parents separated when He was only 2
When Hamilton was 2 years old, his parents got separated. According to our findings, one of the reasons for the breakup was that Carmen Larbalestier, Hamilton’s mother, preferred a quiet life while Anthony Hamilton led a busy, frantic lifestyle and this created a barrier between the two.
Lewis stayed with his mother, Samantha, and Nicola, his elder half-sisters, after the separation, until he was twelve. After that, he relocated to live with his father, stepmother Linda, and half-brother Nicolas.

To keep Him Racing, Lewis’ Father worked 4 Jobs
As previously said, Lewis Hamilton is a well-known British race car driver who competes in Formula One and drives for Mercedes. Lewis owes a great deal of thanks to his parents for giving him every necessary support throughout his racing career. According to trustworthy accounts, Hamilton’s father bought him a radio-controlled automobile when he was five years old and also bought him a go-kart for Christmas when he was six. More so, his father promised to support his racing career as long as he worked hard at school.
Anthony kept to his promise and accepted a premature departure from his job as an IT manager to support his son’s career. He also worked as many as four jobs at once, including dishwashing, double-glazing salesperson, and putting up signs for estate agents, while continuing to attend his son’s races. Thankfully, Hamilton’s father later founded his own information technology business and later took over as Lewis’ manager until early 2010 when he was relieved.
Lewis’ mother, Carmen Larbalestier, also gets along well with her son. Little surprise given that the athlete just went public to say how much he cherished spending more of his formative years with his biological mother. Carmen has always been present for Lewis’ major moments even though she hasn’t attended his races frequently.
Carmen once said Lewis was the best thing to come out of her marriage with Anthony and she is grateful that the split with her ex-husband did not affect Lewis. According to her, he is probably better for it than if she and Anthony had stuck together in an unhappy marriage. She also said she did not stop making sure Lewis got what he wanted.
Lewis intends to add His Mother’s Surname to His name
The 39-year-old British athlete recently questioned why women lose their surnames after they become married. Lewis said he is really proud of his family’s name, Hamilton but regrets that not many people might know that his mum’s surname is Larbalestier. Lewis’ step-mum, Linda Hamilton has also been a strong support system to the athlete. She is regularly spotted at Lewis’ races and is known to also give him the support he needed for his career to thrive. Lewis once wrote a heart-touching tribute on his I.G on mothers Day and it reads
Growing up with a Mum and a step Mum who have always supported me is such a gift. No matter what happened in school or on the track, the amount of love and care never changed. Making them both proud is one of my top achievements, so I’ll do everything I can to make them proud today. Happy Mother’s Day to them and all amazing Mums out there.
Meanwhile, Linda is the birth mum of Lewis’ half-brother, Nicolas who is also a racer.
