Chanel Maya Banks, the American actress and writer, who is best known for her role as Sawyer Bennett in the drama series, Gossip Girl, has filed a restraining order against her own mother and cousin.
Earlier, in November, Chanel was reported missing by her own family and fans were very worried about the development. However, the actress stunned everyone when she came out to rubbish the missing claim.
She dismissed the claim by her family that she was missing by posting a message to her social media page where she explained that she was not in fact missing at all, but insinuated that she had escaped from them. The actress had also explained that she went to Texas to be baptized by her favorite pastor.
Now, according to TMZ, Chanel Maya Banks Banks filed for the restraining order on Thursday, December 26. She filed the restraining order claiming that her mother, Lutchmin Judy Kumar, and her cousin, Danielle Singh, have been worked together to destroy her credibility and also to harass her.
In the document, the actress stated that her mother and cousin have repeatedly attempted to contact her against her wishes, despite her request for distance in October. She claims the pair later reported her as a missing person to Los Angeles police, prompting officers to conduct a wellness check on her.
Chanel claims that her mother and cousin have continued to contact her despite her husband, Carlos, repeatedly assuring them that she was fine and did not wish to speak with them. She also alleges that she has text messages showing them threatening to “weaponize the police” against her.
Also, Chanel claims that on November 10, her mother and cousin broke into her apartment while she was away on a trip. They allegedly attacked her husband, Carlos, stole his work badge, and placed an Apple AirTag on her car to track her movements. She states that she has filed police reports regarding these incidents.
Also, Chanel Maya Banks claims that her mother and sister went on to escalate their attacks on her and her husband, accusing him of murder and even suggesting that she should be placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold.
Therefore, the actress is asking the court to stop Lutchmin and Danielle from contacting her in any form, be it physically or electronically. She is also asking the court to stop them from talking about her publicly.
According to TMZ, sources close to the family have all denied the allegations of wrongdoing made by Chanel. They especially denied the claim that anyone ever assaulted Carlos.
