Donald Trump is now officially back in the White House as the President of United States of America.
Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States today, January 20, marking his return to the White House for a second, non-consecutive term.
This historic comeback follows his initial tenure as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.
The swearing-in ceremony was held indoors at the US Capitol, breaking tradition due to exceptionally cold weather conditions.
First, JD Vance, the United States Vice President-elect and former Senator from Ohio (2023–2025), was sworn into office.
Following this, Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath of office to Donald Trump at 12 p.m. ET, with First Lady Melania Trump standing by his side.
The event, which was held indoors, had a limited audience of approximately 700 guests, a significant reduction from the originally anticipated 250,000 attendees.
Trump took his oath with his left hand on a Bible held by Melania and his right hand raised.
The oath he took was: “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help my God.”
Donald Trump then made his first speech after being sworn in as president for the second time. He began by giving thanks to the crowd, as well as his Vice President JD Vance and other politicians and justices present at the event.
He declared that: “The golden age of America begins right now.”
He says America will be “the envy of every nation”.
“We will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer. I will, very simply, put America first.”
In his inaugural address, President Trump laid out an ambitious agenda for his second term, highlighting plans for immediate executive actions to strengthen immigration enforcement, reverse previous border policies, and introduce new tariffs.
