Carrie Underwood, the famous American country singer and songwriter, is set to perform at the inauguration of US President-elect, Donald Trump next week.
Our findings show that Carrie Underwood will indeed perform “America the Beautiful” at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Apart from her, the popular American disco group, Village People will also perform at two inaugural events.
Carrie Underwood, who kick-started her career and rose to fame on American Idol, is set to perform just before Trump takes the oath of office at the U.S. Capitol on January 20, according to an inaugural program obtained by The Associated Press on Monday.
The singer confirmed the development in a statement on Monday. Carrie Underwood wrote: “I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
The Village People, the iconic American disco group who are very well-known for their chant-along dance-pop hits and vibrant on-stage personas, rose to fame in the late ’70s. Their classic hit “Y.M.C.A.” is widely regarded as a gay anthem and, along with their song “Macho Man,” became a staple at Trump’s rallies during the last election.
The iconic group is billed to put up a performance at one of Trump’s inaugural balls as well as at a rally he’s hosting in Washington the day before his inauguration.
The band, in the post it made on its Facebook page on Monday, said: “We know this won’t make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics. Our song Y.M.C.A. is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost. Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump.”
The inauguration ceremony will also feature performances by two of the president-elect’s favorite musicians: country singer Lee Greenwood and opera singer Christopher Macchio.
The grandeur and pageantry of a presidential inauguration begin this weekend in Washington, featuring a fireworks display at Trump’s golf club in Sterling, Virginia, a campaign-style rally in D.C., a visit to Arlington National Cemetery, and elegant dinners, all leading up to the former president taking the oath of office to become the next president.
Donald Trump’s second inauguration is expected to be completely different from the last time a new president was sworn in. After refusing to accept his 2020 defeat, Trump skipped Democratic President Joe Biden’s inauguration at the Capitol, where lingering reminders of the violent January 6, 2021, siege by Trump’s supporters were still visible.
The committee organizing Trump’s inaugural events released a schedule on Monday, detailing four days of activities leading up to the January 20th swearing-in ceremony, which Biden is expected to attend.
The President-elect is scheduled to attend a reception and fireworks show at his Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia On Saturday. Meanwhile, Vice President-elect JD Vance will separately host a reception for incoming Cabinet members followed by a dinner.
Then, on Sunday, the president-elect will take part in a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery before hosting a campaign-style “MAGA Victory” rally at Capital One Arena in downtown Washington, featuring a performance by the Village People.
The Republican’s Inauguration Day itinerary includes tea at the White House, the swearing-in ceremony at the Capitol, a congressional luncheon, a parade along Pennsylvania Avenue, and three inaugural balls.
