The American movie maker Christopher Lloyd had a lifelong marriage with Arleen Sorkin which lasted till her death on August 26, 2023. On his own, Lloyd has honed his craft as a writer and producer over three decades and has credits to show for it in works like Modern Family, The Simpsons, and Frasier.
Aside from his career, Lloyd who shares the same name with another American actor is the father of two children whom he shared with Arlene. It would be recalled that she became popular for her role in Days of Our Lives and as the original voice character of Harley Quinn. Sadly, the world will miss her incredible talent, yet, her husband and their two children have memories of her that will last a long time.
Arleen Sorkin’s Husband was Born to a Movie Maker
Christopher Lloyd was born on June 18, 1960, to Arline and David Lloyd, a sitcom writer. While Wikipedia states his place of birth as Los Angeles, some sources state that he is a native of Connecticut.
Apart from this, he was raised as a Catholic and this had an impact on how he conducted himself even while he was outside the home. Like his father, Christopher’s grandfather, H. Wilson Lloyd was also a skilled songwriter and humorist who doubled as a PR specialist making Lloyd a third-generation entertainer.
From a young age, Lloyd followed his father to production sets and this rubbed off on him in later years as he also chose the same career path. Thus, Christopher’s dabbling in entertainment was in the footsteps of other members of his family.
According to Jesse Tyler Ferguson, an actor who appeared on Modern Family, Lloyd is camera shy and therefore prefers to work from behind it. Considering this, we can infer that Lloyd’s career choice also had something to do with his being shy in front of the camera.
Away from this, Lloyd grew up alongside four siblings namely, Stephen, Julie, Ammy, and Douglas. Like him, Stephen is also a movie maker.
He Began his Career in the 80s
Few people can boast of having successful careers that run for decades as is the case with Lloyd. He started out in the 80s as a screenwriter on the first four seasons of The Golden Girls.
For the next couple of years, he actively worked as a comedy writer. While honing his skills, Lloyd also took up the role of showrunner on Wings and Frasier. Remarkably, Frasier marked a career milestone for the Connecticut native. Notably, he collaborated with his father on the project. His father worked as a consultant on the project and contributed more than 15 episodes over 8 seasons while Christopher was a writer and producer.
While recalling their collaboration, the 64-year-old described it as a fruitful experience and an opportunity to explore their own relationship. After his father passed away in 2009, Christopher has continued to accrue more credit to the Lloyd name.
Moving on, his works like Frasier won 5 consecutive Emmy awards for Outstanding Comedy Series. By this achievement, the show drew attention to the creators one of whom was Lloyd.
His next acclaimed work is Modern Family which also won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for five consecutive years thereby making him one of the outstanding winners in Emmy history. His other credits include;

Christopher Lloyd’s Marriage with Arleen Sorkin Lasted for 28 Years
As mentioned before, he was married to the admired actress, singer, and voice artist, Arleen Sorkin. While she notably shares a name with his mother but with a different spelling, the two had many things that made their love life quite unique. Lloyd is described as the introvert who loves a dark quiet room with a pencil and legal pad while Arleen was the outgoing one among them.
Considering this, one can’t help but ask about how it all started and even lasted almost three decades. While it is unclear how the two met, we may not be wrong to assume it was the course of their careers in the entertainment industry. They tied the knot sometime in 1995 and remained together while building their careers.
Lloyd’s wife started her career in the 70s but gained wide acclaim for her appearance on Days of Our Lives and Batman: The Animated Series which she voiced the character of the original Harley Quinn.
He Shares Two Children with Arlene
Despite the success they garnered in the industry, Christopher and Arlene were family-oriented. They welcomed two children who are now adults.
Their first child, Eli was born on October 2, 1994, followed by their youngest, Owen some years later. Like their parents, Eli and Owen also have a creative streak and we can say this based on their social media updates. Christopher and Arlene’s two children are involved in live shows, short films, and other aspects of entertainment.
