Babatunde Oyerinde popularly known as Kashy Godson rose to prominence as a Nigerian producer and record label boss of Cash Nation Entertainment – a label Barry Jhay has been s signed to. On March 7, 2021, reports came in about the death of Kashy. In this regard, many stories have juggled the internet about the cause of his death.

Before his death, however, there were a number of controversies about him that may have arisen. However, they never stopped him from contributing immensely to Nigerian music. He also has gathered fortune that may have resulted in interesting net worth.

Kashy was well-known for his lavish lifestyle. Although it has never been clear his exact income, it is known that he may have earned a good fortune through his major source – Cash Nation Ent. Ltd. record label. In Nigeria, many record label owners have over $500,000 as their net worth, hence Kashy may have had a net worth believed to be about that amount.

There was controversy about his source of income. In 2020, he was arrested over an alleged cybercrime at his residence in Lekki Conservative Estate, Lagos.

Following a series of investigations, it was reported that his domestic staff, Thomas Aliu Akwu confessed that his name was used in many of the fraudulent activities. Furthermore, it was claimed that accounts in several banks were created in the name of Thomas and Kashy’s proceeds of cybercrime mostly end up in the accounts.

Of the many things Kashy made public, he left the identity of his family out of the public. Upon his death, however, a man named Rina has made it to the news as his younger brother. Rina came out to say his brother did not commit suicide as some reports may have suggested, but may have been killed.

It was on 7 March 2020 that Kashy was reportedly dead in Ghana. Initially, several reports alleged that Kashy may have killed himself following a battle with depression.

A day after his demise, reports started to go through many pages that musician Barry Jhay may have been responsible for the death of his boss. Others would go on to say Barry was arrested in Ghana in connection to the death.

At the time of this writing, neither Barry nor his management has come out to accept or debunk the news of the arrest nor Barry’s involvement in the death.

Going down memory lane, Barry and Kashy were said to have had a misunderstanding that led to a fight. According to Barry in a video posted on Twitter, he claimed that Kashy assaulted him to the extent that he left his mouth bloodied.

Barry Jhay owes a lot of his success to Kashy who signed him to Cash Nation Entertainment as its first artist. This saw him through becoming a highly recognized fuji musician in Nigeria. He is most notable for songs like Aiye (2018), Normal Level (2018) and Barry Back (2020). Furthermore, he was nominated for The Headies Award in 2018 and 2019 for Best Street-Hop Artist. In 2019 still, he won the awards for Rookie of the Year at The Headies.

Still, on the speculation about the CashNation’s Ent. boss, a video has surfaced about his final words: “I love you Walahi” in Yoruba language.

What Social Media Thinks About The Death Of Kashy

Social media have taken great interest in the death of Kashy and whether Barry Jay is truly involved in it. On Twitter, a user @RealFinebob has claimed that eyewitnesses said Kashy fell from the fifth floor of a 6 storey building. The was however not intentional.

Another user @ChloeYusha shared a post that it was reported that Kashy had been suffering from PTSD ever since he was arrested by the EEFC. It further claimed that Barry had left his boss to report the incident between them and when security personnel arrived, he took to his heels and unfortunately ended up dead when jumped in trying to flee.
