Who is Sophia Rosing?

Sophia Rosing was born in 2000 in Kenton County, Kentucky, USA. She is currently 25 years old. Her parents are Paul Donald Rosing Jr. and Jill Algie Rosing and she is the youngest of three children born to them. Before her viral racist attack, she was majoring in business and marketing at the University of Kentucky.

On November 6, 2022, under the influence of alcohol, Ms. Rosing walked into Boyd Hall one of the campus dormitories of the University of Kentucky. Without following standard procedure, the blonde 22-year-old at the time tried to walk past the front desk staff Ms. Kylah Spring who was on an overnight shift.

The black worker tried to stop the intoxicated white lady but never saw the hateful reaction coming. Sophia resisted the attempts Kylah made to restrain her by throwing punches at her of which she successfully landed a few. When this didn’t give her the desired effect, she went on to use about 200 racial slurs on the African American dormitory worker.

Campus police were called in to calm the situation, but it didn’t make Rosing back down. According to reports, the racist student told the arresting officers that she had “lots of money” and always got “special treatment.” She resisted arrest, fought, kicked, and bit the hand of a police officer.

She was finally subdued and taken to the Fayette County Detention Center and was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public space, disorderly conduct, and fourth and third-degree assault of a police officer. She was released on bail of $10,000. As she walked out of the detention center, her parents tried to hide their daughter’s face from the public.

Kylah Spring later shared the video of the incident on social media telling her side of the story. Reactions began to trail in with the majority denouncing Ms. Rosing for her hate crime.

Consequences of Sophia Rosing’s Hate Crime

Sophia Rosing might have thought she could get away with assaulting Kylah but things happened fast leaving her and her family working hard to clear her name. When the video of the attack went viral, Dillard terminated their relationship with Rosing. Before then, she worked as a campus influencer for the fashion giant.

To add to her misfortune, Her Campus Media and College Fashionista removed her from their program after denouncing her disgraceful behavior. The President of the University of Kentucky has stated that Rosing is no longer a student of the institution, is not eligible to re-enroll as a student, and is permanently banned from the campus.

Sophia Rosing Has a Notorious History

More revelations about Sophia Rosing’s past came to light after the viral video of her racial attack on Kyla. Her former high school mate who chose to remain anonymous came forward to talk about how she was bullied. She alleged that when she was 15 years old,  Rosing threatened to release her nudes of a 15-year-old girl.

She didn’t stop there, she spread rumors that the said girl had an abortion and posted her number online. Unable to handle the bullying, she was withdrawn from the school far from Rosing’s reach.

Her Mother Believes That She Should Be Given a Second Chance

After a long time of silence, Sophia’s mother Jill Algie Rosing set up a petition to allow her daughter to complete her education. In her words, “Sophia is very remorseful for what she has done, but she cannot take back or erase any mistakes made in the past but she can learn from them and ensure that she doesn’t make the same mistakes again in the future.”

Rosing’s mother hopes that Rosing is allowed to finish her education at the University of Kentucky even if it is at a delayed pace. This comes after the school permanently banned the 25-year-old from their campus.

Sophia Rosing’s Court Hearing

On February 2023, a grand jury indicted Sophia on six counts, including assault of a police officer, three for assault, one for disorderly conduct, and one for public alcohol intoxication. She pleaded not guilty to all charges. She had a pre-trial conference in May 2023 where the judge moved the pre-trial to August 18, 2023, but her attorney pleaded for an extension. There has been no update since then.
