Towanda Braxton is a singer, producer, and actress known for her role in Envision (2021), Indecent Choices, and Finding Destiny. She has been married to the author and producer, Sean Hall, since 2016. This was a few years after she parted ways from Andre Carter, her husband of over 10 years and father of her children, Brooke Carter and Braxton Montelus Carter.

Towanda Braxton is the fourth of 6 children born to her parents Rev. Micheal Conrad Braxton Sr. and Evelyn Jackson. She was born on September 18, 1973 and she’s 54 years old. From what we garnered, she grew up in Severn, Maryland, USA alongside her 5 siblings – a brother named Micheal Jr. and 4 sisters Trina Evette, and Tamar Estine, Traci Renee who died in 2013 following cancer diagnoses.

As hinted, Towanda lost her sister Traci Renee to Esophageal cancer in 2022 and this left the family devastated. Her diagnosis was not known to the public until the family announced in a joint statement that she had passed on after a private battle with the disease.
To honor her, Towanda shaved her hair and explained that she wishes to keep her sisters legacy alive forever. She also noted that she had shaved her hair prior to Traci’s death and her sister said it was beautiful. Thusly, she has decided to keep shaving her hair. Even though this got friends and fans worried about Towanda’s health status, she cleared the air that she was not sick.
Also, the sisters made a hummingbird locket which contains Traci’s ashes as a way to keep her close to them always. The sisters also added that their late sister Traci had a large tattoo of 5 hummingbirds on her back which represented their bond.

As hinted earlier, Towanda passion for music was ignited as a child while singing as part of the church choir. She later pursued her passion and studied music at Bowie State University. She graduated in 1995 and began her solo career thereafter.
Prior to that, she and her sisters had collaborated on a number of songs. They released their first single “Good Life” in 1990. Since then, they have also released the album Family Christmas.
Asides from music, Towanda also dabbled in the entertainment industry as an actress. She has appeared in movies such as The Real Georgia Peaches, The Execution of Nigel Harris, and Misguided Behavior. She became famous following her family reality television series “Braxton Family Value” which was signed by We TV. The sisters alongside their mother are cast in the series which had its premiere in 2011 and aired until 2019.

She Was Previously Married to Andre Carter
Towanda Braxton has been quite discreet about her personal life however, we garnered that she was previously married to Andre Carter, a professional author. Their relationship kicked off after meeting in an Atlantic nightclub. The exact time they started dating is not known however, it was in 2004 that they exchanged vows in a beautiful ceremony witnessed by close friends and family members.
Unfortunately, the couple parted ways in September 2014 after over 10 years old being married. They officially filed for divorce in 2016. The reason why they parted ways has not been revealed to the public but are raising their kids together.

Towanda Braxton’s marriage with her ex-husband Andre saw the birth of two children. Her first child, Braxton Montelus was born in 2005 while their second child Brooke Carter was born in 2006.

A few months after Towanda’s divorce she crossed paths with Sean whom she has known for almost 3 decades. From what we garnered, the pair first met sometime in the 90s while he was working on her 1996 album “So Many Ways”. Though they were attracted to each other at their first meeting, they were both in different relationships at the time.
Interestingly, their second meeting made way for them. They soon connected and became friends. According to her, their friendship blossomed into a relationship in July 2015 while working on the Braxton Christmas album. She also added that she hesitated in moving on because of her kids. She wanted to be sure they were ready to see her move on.
Towanda didn’t tell her family about Sean until her sister figured out that there was a mystery man in her life and brought him on board. It was then that she revealed his identity in the Braxton’s Family Values series.
Towanda and Sean have spent 9 years which Towanda describes as the best years of her life. She also said that she wouldn’t have imagined spending her life with someone else. Following the couple’s loved-up photos and messages on their social media pages, it’s easy to see that they are so in love. It’s not known if they’ve walked down the aisle yet as she has been engaged to him since 2020. However, they celebrate their anniversary on the 25th of September every year.
