Jannik Sinner’s parents are Siglinde Sinner and Hanspeter Sinner. Even though they are non-athletes, they have encouraged their son’s sporting interest from his early start and continue to inspire him through their modest careers.
Jannik’s parents are both Italians by nationality and work in the food industry. His father is a chef while his mother is a waitress. Here’s all you should know about them.
Jannik’s Father Convinced him to Keep Playing Tennis
Hanspeter Sinner, the father of Jannik may not have pursued a professional career in sports however, he was the one who inspired his son to start playing tennis at the age of 3. Father and son would play together until Jannik’s interest gradually drifted to skiing and at the age of 8 he lost interest in tennis.
Nonetheless, his father convinced him to keep practicing and improve his skills after he took a year out from the sport. Jannik recalling this said, “My dad came and said, ‘Let’s try once more'”. Following that, he got enrolled under his first coach Heribert Mayr and has since become a great lover of the sport.
The senior Sinner believed that his son had a future in tennis and that turned out to be true afterward. Jannik also credits his parents for believing in his passion and allowing him to leave home at a very young age to pursue his passion.
Though Hanspeter is only in the spotlight because of his son, he also holds his end as a chef in a restaurant at the ski lodge in Val Pusteria, Italy.

His Mother, Siglinde Sinner Works as a Waitress
While Jannik’s father works in the food industry as a chef, his mother Siglinde Sinner works alongside her husband as a waitress in the same Italian restaurant.
Prior to this time, the couple render their services at the Talshusshutte lodge and travel from one place to the other to engage in kitchen and table service.
On the occasion of Mother’s Day in May 2020, Jannik uploaded a childhood photo of himself and his mother which he captioned, “I feel so lucky to have the best mom. Happy Mother’s Day”.
Jannik’s Upbringing Shaped His Life and Career
As hinted earlier, Jannik comes from a modest background and did not enjoy the privileges that come with having wealthy parents. However, this has been an inspiration for him. He noted that he is proud of his parent’s simple careers as it has taught him work ethics and also instilled values in him. He also added that they gave him the mindset to always keep trying every day and never lose focus.
Asides from that, Jannik who is mostly calm and collected revealed that the education he received from his parents taught him to respect every one.
It’s no surprise that Jannik has continued to build his career on this foundation and holds a record as one of the leading young players on the APT Tour and has been ranked world No. 8.
Jannik Sinner is not the Only Child of His Parents
The Italian tennis player born Jannik Sinner on August 16, 2001, was raised alongside his older brother Marc Sinner in the South Tyrol region of Northern Italy. Even though they were birthed by the same parents, the brothers do not share many similarities as noted by many fans after Jannik shared their photo.
Asides from their physical appearance, Jannik’s brother upholds a very private lifestyle and not so much is known about him. It’s difficult to assert if he also shares athletic skills like his brother or pursues a different interest.
