Treat Williams was born on December 1, 1951, in Stamford Connecticut to his parents, Marian and Richard Norman Williams. His mother was an antiques dealer while his father was a corporate executive.
He attended Kent School where he was a member of the football team. He also attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster.
His Acting career
William’s acting career began in 1975 when he debut in the thriller, Deadly Hero. After that, he went on to appear in Hair as George Berger. He also appeared in several stage performances and shows on Broadway.
In addition to acting, he worked as a director, which earned him two festival awards for directing Texan in Showtime’s Chanticleer Films series.
In general, Treat Williams had over 130 film and television show credits to his name. Some of the most notable ones include The Late Shift, which earned him an Emmy Award nomination, and Everwood; which also earned him two SAG Award nominations.
Furthermore, he authored a children’s book titled Air Show and it was published in 2010. The book targeted children of about three to seven years.

On June 12, 2023, Treat William was aboard a motorcycle when he collided with a car on Route 30 near Dorset. According to the police report, the driver of the car initially signaled a left turn before he turned into the path William’s 1986 Honda VT700c motorcycle was on. The actor reportedly tried to avoid the collision but was unfortunately thrown from his motorcycle.
Williams suffered critical injuries and was airlifted in a LifeNet helicopter to Albany Medical Center in New York. Upon arrival, he was pronounced dead. The police revealed the other driver only had minor injuries.
Treat Williams was survived by his wife, Pam Van Sant, whom he was married to for more than three decades, and their two children: Gill, (born 1992) and Ellie (born 1998).
