Tazman James is a 32-year-old American rapper and son of late funk icon, James Ambrose Johnson Jr popularly known as Rick James, and 54-year-old costume designer and actress, Tanya Anne Hijazi. Unlike his father who was well-known in the music world and even won a Grammy award as a co-writer for MC Hammer’s 1990 song U can’t Touch This, Tazman is more of an underground rapper. James Tazman was born in May 1992 in the United States to late American singer and songwriter, Rick James and costume designer and actress, Tanya Anne Hijazi. He is currently 32 years old.
Even though Tazman is the only child of his parent, he has three half-siblings; Tyenza “Ty” James, Rick James Jr., and Trey Hardesty James from his father’s previous marriage and relationship. 1. Tazman’s Parents Assaulted Two Women In The Early 90s And Were Put Behind Bars
Besides being husband and wife, his parents were also partners in crime. Between 1990 and 1992, they reportedly assaulted 2 women, Frances Alley and Mary Sauger.
They were first arrested on 2nd August 1991 for holding Frances Alley captive for 6 days. In addition, they tortured and forced her to perform sexual acts.
His father’s charges include assault with a deadly weapon, forcible oral copulation, and kidnapping. However, he was released on bail.
Subsequently, his parents reportedly assaulted music executive Mary Sauger on 3rd November 1992 at the St. James Club and Hotel in West Hollywood. Reports say his father acted under the influence of cocaine.
Sauger on her part claims she was kidnapped and beaten for over 20 hours by the rapper’s parents after meeting them for a business meeting.
His parents received their punishment for breaking the law and for bad behavior. They were both given prison sentences for their crimes. While his mother got a sentence that was later reduced to 15 months with a $5,000 fine, his father was put 5 years behind bars.

The rapper’s father first met his mother in 1989 when he was 39 and she was 17. The following year, the pair sparked off a hot romance that lasted nearly 7 years before getting married finally on 24th December 1997. At the time of the wedding, their son, Tazman James was already 5 after he was born in May 1992 as indicated.
By the time, he clocked 10, his parents’ marriage ended. They divorced in 2002 after 5 years of being together.

3. He Was 12 When His Father Died
James Tazman was 12 when his father, Rick James died. According to reports, his father was found dead by his caretaker in his Los Angeles home on 6th August 2004. He died at the age of 56, and the course of his death was attributed to natural courses as stated by his publicist, Sujata Murthy.
On top of that, his father passed from pulmonary and cardiac failure. A report from his autopsy reveals certain percentages of some drugs and cocaine in his bloodstream, but they were not at the life-threatening level, says the coroner.
His father’s remains were later laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, New York.
4. His Older Sister Tyenza “Ty” James Took Over Their Father’s Estate After His Death
After the demise of his father, his older sister Tyenza “Ty” James took charge of their father’s estate to manage it. As the oldest child of Rick James, she talked about the difficulty of having a father who was struggling with addiction.
