Annabel Elliot and Mark Shand are the younger siblings of Camilla Rosemary Shand, the Queen consort of the United Kingdom and other commonwealth areas, and wife of King Charles lll.
Besides being under the spotlight for being Camilla’s siblings, Annabel is an interior designer and antique dealer, while Mark was a traveler, writer, and conservationist. Unfortunately, the latter died in April 2014 after sustaining a head injury in an accident in New York.

Annabel Elliot
Annabel Elliot was born Sonia Annabel Shand on February 2, 1949, in Lambeth, London. She is the second of three children born to her late parents, Major Bruce Shand and Rosalind Shand. Her older sister is Queen consort, Camila, while her younger brother is Mark Shand.
The 75-year-old studied fine art in Florence, Italy. The knowledge she gained in Italy would later determine her career choice.
She established herself as an interior designer and antique dealer when she founded “Annabel Elliot Interior design and antiques” in Dorset, which has been in existence for 3 decades now. In addition, she co-founded one of the biggest antiques and interior stores in Gillingham.
Apart from running her businesses, she has been involved in the design and renovations of some of King Charles’ estates when he employed her as his chief interior designer. She designed and renovated several of his estates and others, including Duchy of Cornwall, Llwynywermod, Bovey Castle Hotel, The Duchy Nursery, Dumfries Lodge House, Highgrove House Shops, and the Duchess of Cornwall Inn pub.
Moving to her personal life, Annabel Elliot is a wife and a mother of three children. She got married to her husband, Simon Elliot, at 23, on April 27, 1972.
Three years later, she gave birth to her first son, Ben Elliot (49), a British entrepreneur and politician on August 11, 1975, in Dorset, England. Over the next six years, she gave birth to Alice (47), and Catherine (43), in 1977 and 1981, respectively.
Annabel Elliot and Simo Elliot have been married for 52 years.

Mark Shand
Mark Shand is the younger brother of Queen consort, Camilla and Annabel Elliot. He was born Mark Roland Shand on June 28, 1951, in London to Bruce Shand and Rosalind Shand.
He grew up near Lewes, East Sussex, and attended Milton Abbey School in Dorset. However, he was expelled from the school for smoking cannabis. As a result, his father sent him to Australia, but he made a stop in India, and end up falling in love with the country.
Shand was a traveler, writer, and conservationist. He has written several books about his travels and animals, including:
- Travels on my Elephant
- River Dog
- Queen of the Elephants
- Elephant Tales
- Skulduggery
- Magnesia Cements
In addition, he was chairman of the wildlife foundation, “Elephant Family.” He co-founded the non-governmental organization in 2002 to protect wildlife and natural landscapes in Asia.
Unfortunately, he died on April 23, 2014, at the age of 62 after falling and hitting his head on a pavement in New York.
Following the accident, he was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he was immediately placed on life support. He was later taken off life support after his family was informed he is almost 100 percent dead. So, his family gave the permission.
Prior to this, the Queen consort Camilla’s younger brother got married to Clio Goldsmith in 1990, at the Laines, after dating for three years. In 1994, Shand and Goldsmith gave birth to their only daughter, Ayesha Shand.
However, the marriage was rocky, so, they lived separately for some time before their divorce was finalized in 2009.
