Neile Adams has ancestry Across Two Continents
She was born Maria Ruby Neilam Salvador Adams on July 10, 1932, in Manilla, Philippine Island. During her childhood, Adams never met her father, José Arrastia, even though her mother Carmen ‘Miami’ Salvador later claimed her father’s middle name was Adams. This explains her stage name Neile Adams, a shorter version of her name and her father’s middle name.
Neile’s background and ethnicity are quite a fascinating detail. DNA tests confirmed that she is of Eurasian descent on both sides of her family. She traces her bloodline to Japanese, Chinese, Mongolian, Polynesian, Spanish Basque, and English ancestors.
Considering her birth year, Adams is one of the survivors of the Second World War. In her case, she worked as a Filipino spy even though she was just a child.
In the years after, she moved on with her life and later moved to the US in 1948. Adams attended the Rosemary Hall, a high school which she graduated from in 1949.

While in the show, she gave quite a stellar performance that soon made her one of the lead dancers on the show. After the show ended in 1955, she continued to pursue her career by dancing at the Versailles club. Like in previous years, her performance drew the attention of the Broadway writer and producer, George Abbot and Boob Fosse who soon influenced her performance in The Pajama Game.
Notably, she was under a contract with the Versaille club, and by extension, she had to manage working on Broadway and performing at the club till her contract with the latter ended.
