The stage name Suga was derived and adopted for two reasons. First, he chose the name because it reminded him of who he was as a basketball player. He used to be a shooting guard and so he came up with Suga as a deviation of ‘shoo(ting)’ and ‘gua(guard). He eventually just shortened it to ‘Suga’.
The second reason he chose the name is that he was always referred to as sweet by his group members and CEO and so he decided to promote his sweetness.

Min Yoongi has unfortunately been a regular with hospitals and accidents. His first major recorded accident was one he had on a bike while running deliveries as a trainee. He tried to cover the accident up from his employers because he feared he’d be let off work. However, when he eventually told the truth, he was helped through his struggles.
On the 9th day of the last month of the year 2013, Suga had to undergo surgery at the Severance Hospital in Sinchon. The surgery was for appendicitis which he was diagnosed with. He was discharged after a few days but re-admitted due to complications.

Min Yoongi has been quite invested in philanthropic work and has since been doing what he can to help people. Before his rise to fame, in 2014, he promised to buy his fans meat if he succeeds as a musician.
