Merve Dibo is a Syrian who gained fame after she married the tallest man in the world, Sultan Kosen in October 2013. Having met through a mutual friend, the pair only dated for a couple of months before they decided to marry.
Her ex-husband found himself on the Guinness World Record not just as the tallest man living but also as the man with the longest feet and hands.
Sadly, Merve Dibo and Sultan Kosen divorced in 2021 citing the language barrier as a key problem in their marriage. Dibo only speaks Arabic while Kosen speaks only Turkish.
Who is Merve Dibo?
Merve Dibo was born in her hometown, Hasaki, Syria in 1992. It was also here that she was raised. With little or no information regarding her family, it is known that she has never been to turkey before her journey to meet Sultan Kosen.
As for her ex-husband, he is a Turkish man of ethnic Kurdish descent. Due to his height, he could not complete his education hence his choice of becoming a farmer. Although Sultan’s height sometimes posed a great disadvantage to him, it has some advantages as well.
The Turkish farmer has revealed that his height gives him a better chance to see from a great distance. It also helps him with domestic tasks such as changing light bulbs and hanging curtains.
She Became Sultan Kosen’s Wife in 2013
Merve Dibo and Sultan Kosen first met through a mutual friend while she was still in Syria and while Sultan was in Turkey. She had to travel from Syria to Turkey to meet him.
While most of the women he wanted in the past refused him because of his height, Dibo was not bothered about that and instead, she fell for his kind heart.
They dated for about three months before tying the knot in Mardin Turkey on October 27, 2013. At that time, Kosen was 30 years while Merve was only 21 years old.
Despite being discouraged not to go on with the marriage, Merve went on to marry the tallest man in the world.
Their wedding was well attended by about 1500 guests including dignitaries like the president and the prime minister of Turkey, some Turkish politicians and businessmen, and also a representative from Guinness World Records.
During their wedding ceremony, Merve and Sultan revealed that they wished to build a beautiful family with two children.
Merve Dibo’s Ex-husband Made Several Attempts to Finding True Love Before He Met Her.
Before the pair met, the Turkish farmer revealed how difficult it was for him to get women to love him. During his formative years, Kosen was mocked and bullied due to his height. For that reason, women were not comfortable with him as he himself was not comfortable with himself.
Sultan once revealed there was a time he gave up on finding true love. However, everything changed after Merve came into his life and even agreed to marry him.

Merve Dibo and Sultan Kosen’s Height Difference
Standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, Merve is definitely a short woman compared to her ex-husband who is 8 feet 2.82 inches tall. Therefore, Sultan Kosen’s ex-wife is 2 feet 7 inches shorter than him.
His hands measured 28 cm, and his feet bot around 14 inches. With that, Kosen is the seventh-tallest man in history.
Her Marriage with the Tallest Man Ended in 2021
In 2021, after almost 8 years of marriage, Merve Dibo and Sultan Kosen ended their marriage in a divorce. Although they reportedly had other issues, they cited the language barrier as one of their major problems.
Merve went back to Syria after the divorce while Kosen began another search for a new wife. Reports say he even went to Moscow, Russia to find a new wife who was willing to bear him children. His main reason for going to Moscow was due to the fact that he believed women there possess amazing beauty and likable souls.
It is unclear how long he stayed in Russia and if he is still searching for someone to replace Merve Dibo.
