Meg Frampton is a talented singer, songwriter, and one half of the duo Meg & Dia, a band she started with her sister. She has grown and evolved in her career as a musician over the years. In her quest for discovering her self, Meg has become spiritual which has helped her deepen her relationship with her loved ones and better understand herself.
Although on her own she has come to create her own path, she has also been recognized as Dia Frampton’s sister, not just a bandmate.
Biography of Meg Frampton
Meg Frampton was born on the 3rd of April 1985. She and her siblings (Dia, Jade, Rena, Nikki, and Misty) were raised by their British father, Dix Frampton, and Korean mother, Sunhee Frampton. The girls grew up in Utah and according to Dia, they were the only Korean- American girls in their school.
Meg attended Dixie High School, St. George, Utah, and also University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Although it was music that she has come to be famous for, she was also a cheerleader both in high school and college.
Already with a talent for music, Meg and her sister, Dia began their music career in their teenage years by singing and uploading their works on Myspace. It was thanks to this that they got their first deal, followed by albums, and then a soundtrack for “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.” Before all these, they had an album they released.

1. Her interest in music began as a child
When Meg and her sister (Dia) were growing up, their parents who noticed their interest in music got them a karaoke machine and guitar respectively for Christmas. This further fueled their interests and encouraged them to work on their craft.
2. Her father who sparked her interest in music encouraged Meg to write songs.
Meg’s father was a DJ in his early twenties and had an extensive record collection which Meg listened to while growing up. After her first heartbreak, she wrote a song and her parents showered her with lots of praise, they encouraged the girls to write and play original songs together.
3. Meg is definitely ‘crazy about the guitar.
Even though Dia got the guitar and Meg the karaoke machine while growing up, they soon discovered their innate abilities and areas of strength. While Dia focused on her voice, Meg started out playing whatever was on the radio or her buddies CD player. Her love for the guitar bloomed and solidified.
While Dia sang, Meg played the guitar and provided backup. Some of her guitar collections include a Vintage White Fender American Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul Studio, Gibson ES-335 Dot in sunburst, a white Gibson Les Pal Custom, a glittery-gold Gretsch guitar, and Taylor 814ce acoustic.
4. Meg is an Amazing Singer
It is easy to overlook Meg’s beautiful voice especially in comparison with her sister’s phenomenal voice but Meg is definitely an amazing singer. She has a distinctive style and voice which she has cultivated over the years. She has provided the lead vocals in some of their band songs like “Rebecca” where she also plays the keyboard. She also provided intro solos for some of the band’s songs during live performances.

Because Meg doesn’t sing much, it is easy to assume that she doesn’t bring much to the table when it comes to their band’s music creation process. This is very far from the truth, in actual fact, Meg wrote most of the songs on their albums.
Music has been her anchor and she isn’t shy to write about her pains. She has shared in a series of interviews that her music has gotten her through several difficult situations in her life. For instance, after her first heartbreak, she thought she was going to die but music helped her cope.
6. Entrepreneurship
Meg has described herself as a pretty brave person for several reasons. She owns a coffee shop called “Three Pines Coffee. According to her, she invested most of her savings to open a coffee shop (with Nick Price) in a city where only half of the population drinks caffeine. She also owns a jewelry shop – Chandler the Robot.
7. Spirituality is important to Meg Frampton
After their band came to an end, Dia continued with her solo career while Meg decided to go inwards back to other things she has always loved; entrepreneurship and spirituality.
8. Disbandment of the band and strain between the sisters
Even with family members, friction is bound to happen when working together over a long period of time. Dia’s solo venture in the first season of The Voice where she finished as a runner-up led to a record deal and solo career which inadvertently drove a wedge between the sisters.
In June 2012, Meg announced that she was quitting the band she began with her sister due to personal and creative reasons. She claimed to want to focus on her education and solo musical career. After having a strained relationship for eight years, the girls went to therapy together and worked on their relationship which led to a come back in 2019.
9. Meg and Dia’s reunion
In April 2019, the sisters came back together to release their 5th full-length album. The 10 songs on the album are a blend of their distinctive yet compatible personalities. They also released a Christmas album in December 2019.
They revealed that the reason why the band broke in the first place was that they were prideful and immature to talk to each other. They seem to have learned a lot in eight years.

10. Meg Frampton is totally a ‘book worm’
One of the things she enjoys doing is to read novels. Moreover several of their songs were inspired and influenced by literature and many of their songs based on books. Their song “Here, Here and Here” references Mozart, “Tell Mary”. Based on Mary by Vladimir Nabokov, “Monster” was based on the Cathy Ames character in John Steinback’s East of Eden and several more.
Is she married?
Meg Frampton is not yet a married woman at the moment, and she has not always let the public into her private life. However, it is known that she was in a relationship with her then-boyfriend, English singer and songwriter, Alex Gaskarth. The two were linked in 2008 and only dated for a short while before the relationship came to an end.
She also dated Nick Price who as stated, was also the drummer of their band. They decided to start a business together but when she decided to return to music with her sister, Meg sold the business to Price.
