She lost her father at the age of 17. Because of this, she had to drop out of school as her widowed mother could not afford to pay for her education. The young Maureen worked as a flight attendant and did other menial jobs to be able to support her family.
Maureen Dean Got Married to John Dean in 1972
Before starting a lifelong romance with John Dean, Maureen Dean had been married twice. First to George Owen and then to Michael William Biner. She got married to the former on the 1st of April 1967 only to divorce him a month later. Sometime in the following year (1968), she got married to her second husband, Biner, and remained married to him until his death on the 5th of July 1969.
The American writer met her third husband, John Dean, while she was working for the National Committee on Marijuana and Drug Abuse. The duo was introduced by American Diplomat, Barry Goldwater Jr. after John also got divorced. Maureen revealed that they did not waste so much time after they met. They started dating, and soon after, moved in together.
Maureen and John got married on October 13, 1972, in a simple ceremony. Their marriage has not produced any child but John has a son named John Wesley Dean IV from his previous marriage to Karla Ann Hennings.

She began her writing career in 1975 when she released her first book titled Mo: A Woman’s View of Watergate; this was in November of that same year. Maureen co-authored the book alongside American author and journalist, Hays Gorey, who was once an editor at the Salt Lake Tribune.
Maureen Deen has published other books like Washington Wives and Capitol Secrets. While the former was published in 1987, the latter was released in 1992. Subsequently, Mo: A Woman’s View of Watergate was adapted into a four-episode television series titled, Blind Ambition. It was released in 1979.
