Maria Magana is Benson Henderson’s wife whom he proposed to after his win against Gilbert Melendez on April 20, 2013. She is a mixed martial artist and has won several medals and titles in several competitions.
The beginning of their relationship with Benson Henderson wasn’t documented and hasn’t been revealed to the general public. However, pictures of them together from 2012 are on Maria’s Instagram page.
The husband and wife share not just their love and four children; Kyung, Kub, Koah, and Knightley, but also a love for martial arts. Her husband is the famous MMA Lightweight fighter, Benson Henderson.
Mixed Martial Arts Seems to Be a Magana Family Career
The part-Mexica Mixed Martial artist was born in Phoenix, Arizona, United States of America on June 19, 1992. Her parents are Michael Magana and Nancy Magana.
Maria Magana (32) has 3 other siblings, 2 brothers, and a twin sister. One of her brothers is named Mike Dredaz Magana AKA Ghost Rider while the other is John Magana. Her twin sister’s name is Sophia Rose Magana.
She attended and graduated from Deer Valley High School, Glendale, Arizona. After high school, Maria Magana Henderson went on to study Psychology at Paradise Valley Community College.
Maria and her twin sister have both been Mixed Martial artists since their young days. Both specializing in Jit Jitsu for a long while, Maria has won several medals and awards for her performances in the art.
In 2012, Maria was awarded the 2011 AZSBJJF MVP Adult Division.
Nancy and Michael Magana are very supportive parents of their children and their career path. This is evident in how they show how proud they are of Maria and her exploits. Further emphasizing this is Nancy’s Instagram handle being ‘jijitsumama’ and a couple of pictures from her daughter’s wins.
Maria Magana and Benson Henderson Got Married During a Surprise Prank
As already stated in the introduction, Maria and Benson’s relationship dates as far back as 2012 or before. By 2013, Benson believed he was ready to settle down and he wanted to do it with none other than his long-term girlfriend, Maria.
After the April 2013 proposal at the HP Pavilion, the couple began to plan their wedding. It was scheduled to take place on January 3, 2014, at The Venue of Scottsdale. However, the couple had something more interesting planned out.
On New Year’s Eve, Maria and her then fiancé, Benson, invited their families and friends for what they thought was a wedding rehearsal dinner. The event went through the night and by the stroke of midnight, the officiating minister pronounced Maria and Benson husband and wife.
On January 3, the plan of the original event carried on as supposed. However, instead of getting married (as they already had done so two days ago), the couple played the video of their prank on New Year’s Eve/day.

Maria Magana and her Husband Have Four Children
The marriage between Magana and 41-year-old Henderson has brought forth three children. The couple welcomed their first offspring a year plus a few months after their wedding.
They first bore three boys before finally welcoming a girl as their fourth child.
Kyung Henderson was born on August 4, 2015, and Kub, their second son was born on September 29, 2017. The kid was born 5 weeks premature as his expected delivery date was supposed to be the first week of November.
Maria and Benson’s third child came on May 8, 2019, and he was named Koah Abram Henderson. A year after his birth, the Hendersons welcomed the only girl to the pack. Named Knightley Amalia Henderson, Maria’s only daughter was born on July 31, 2020.
The kids have a huge brood of aunties and uncles who love and dot on them. Their grandparents, Michael and Nancy also seize every opportunity to spend time with them.
She Made Her Pro Debut with LFA Fighters in 2022

As a professional jujitsu fighter, Maria Magana-Henderson has a wide knowledge of Mixed Martial fights. Though she never saw herself getting into a cage, this knowledge may have prompted her interest in LFA fighting.
By February 5, 2021, Maria Henderson (nee Magana) had made a switch from jujitsu to LFA fights. She had her first amateur match in a cage on February 19, 2021, against Amanda Mitchelle during the LFA 100. However, one of her most notable fights was against Collette Santiago which was held on October 16, 2021.
The mother of 4 made her professional LFA debut on July 8, 2022. Her first match as a pro was against Mcintyre.
Maria Magana is a mother of 4 who isn’t scared of achieving her dreams. She has always been a lover of martial arts and decided to make a professional career in the IFA. She defies the odds and joins the small percentage of MMA couples who train and fight in similar divisions.
