The legendary actress was the oldest of three children born to artist Mary Wilkinson Streep and pharmaceutical executive Harry William Streep Jr. on 22nd June 1949 in Summit, New Jersey. Her two younger brothers; Harry William Streep lll and Dana David Streep are also actors.
She had her early education at Cedar Hill Elementary School and the Oak Street School. Later on, she enrolled at Bernards High School after her family moved to Bernardsville, New Jersey. In 1971, she obtained her B. A degree from the Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and went on earn a Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) from the Yale School of Drama in 1975. In addition, she received an honorary Doctor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College in 1981.
While growing up as a child, the Sophie’s Choice actress was a timid girl, but her confidence was built with her mother’s encouragement and advice.
