The band went through what most bands and groups go through in the face of success and sometimes during trying times. However, they pulled through together for years and created a lot of magic together while winning the hearts of many fans in Latin America with their unique style of music.
We have gathered some facts about this band for your reading pleasure. Continue to see all about them below.
How Los Bukis Came To Be
Los Bukis, which is now a defunct band, existed for more than twenty years. In the time when they still made music as a band, the group members were among the most prominent musicians in the Mexican music scene.
The Los Bukis band was created by two men, Marco Antonio Solis and Joel Solis, who are cousins. Actually, the two men started to make music long before the band was eventually created.
The music scene in Mexico is very regional, emphasizing the location where the musicians are originally from. In the case of Los Bukis, the band can be traced to Ario de Rosales a town in Michoacan, which is a state in Mexico.
When the band started it was just Marco and Joel experimenting with an array of musical instruments. Their early music was mostly the former just trying out his sound and style, and then he decided that he wanted to actually grow a career in music and become a professional musician.
Who Were The Members Of Los Bukis?
With the realization that they wanted to become a seasoned music group, Marco and Joel decided to expand and take in more members. Eusebio Cortez, Jose Guadarrama, and Pedro Sanchez were the first musicians who joined the band. Cortez played the bass; Guadarrama was on the percussion and saxophone while Sanchez was on drums.
For the period that Los Bukis existed as a band different musicians joined and left the band. A total of twelve people made up Los Bukis for the two decades of its existence. By 1975 the band was fully formed and functional.
The Many Exploits Of The Band
It was in 1975 that the band released their debut album Falso Amor. Shortly after its release, the band received widespread fame in most of the countries in Latin America and as they made more music they became more popular.
Los Bukis’ most popular album was the 1987 Me Volvi a Acordar de Ti. A few weeks after its release it had sold over a million records. In the period when it happened- which was the late 80s, this feat was not something that was easily achieved by musicians of their status. If anything, it was further proof of the quality of the music that they were making. But all of this came to a head in 1996, after sixteen albums.
Marco Antonio, who wrote most of Los Buki’s music was also writing music for other musicians and was arguably the most popular member of the band, he had after all created the band.
Why Los Bukis Disbanded
The reason that Los Bukis stopped existing as it had since 1975 was because Marco decided that he wanted to pursue a solo career in music, but he was the only member of the group that wanted to leave and as a result of this a comprise had to be reached regarding the band’s name.
Marco Antonio had named the band and was now leaving, the other members of the band agreed to no longer use the name, and Marco himself decided that he would not use Los Bukis as well; hence the name of the band was retired with the separation of the band.
