Kayo Redd was beginning to create a path for himself in the music industry as a rapper which helped in making him widely known until his life ended in a reported suicide in the fall of 2013.

As to the actual reason he killed himself, his brother Flocka Flame claimed it was the stress that came with the game – music. Nevertheless, Sgt. Joey Smith said Redd’s family was alarmed about the mental illness of the deceased.

In 2000 while they were younger, he lost his brother in an accident. According to reports, Flocka blamed himself for the death of his brother and took it hard. Upon the death of Redd, his mother tweeted that she lost another son.

Both Waka and Deb had tweeted the death of Redd. Away from showing grief on social media, Waka Flocka in an interview revealed there was a huge change in his diet with 85% being veggies.
He said the action was because he felt the need to be cleansed instead of sitting and moping.

The demise of Redd came with many surprises including a baby his family had no idea about. His baby Ittila was birthed by a Mexican a few months after his passing away.

Furthermore, he started to create awareness for mental health and suicide in his platform. His contributions towards mental health have been recognized and he was awarded an honorary doctorate in philanthropy and humanitarianism from the Bible Institute of America Theology Seminary.
