In a 2017 interview, Leslie revealed that he had a man in his life that was 20 years younger than him. Yet, the age difference did not matter as the younger man flew to Los Angeles 3 days before the comedian was to travel to London.

I’m going to tell you the honest-to-God truth — I have never been on a date. Like, where you come pick me up and take me somewhere. My generation, we didn’t do that. There were a lot of bars. You headed out, you went here, and you went there. But, I don’t remember ever going on a date.

A few months before his death, he revealed that there was a man in his life. Based on what is gathered, the man was teaching him some new things.
One of the things his boyfriend at the time taught him was how to compliment people back when they complimented him. Although he first protested that he was too busy to compliment back, he revealed that he was learning it.
