Lee Rosbach is a 75-year-old sailor who has made a name for himself as a star on Bravo TV’s Below Deck since he joined in 2013. The Michigan native started his career managing restaurants before later following his passion. He is also the author of the memoir Running Against Tide: True Tales from the Stud of the Sea.

He was born Harold Lee Rosbach on November 15, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan. His father whom he shares the same name was a WWII veteran who served in the army. Together with his unnamed mother, the senior Rosbach raised Lee and his six siblings in a Jewish household even though his mother was Catholic.
Lee attended Arthur Hill High school and remained in Saginaw till the age of 25 when he moved to Florida. His move was due to the warm climate of the Sunshine state, located in the southeastern part of the country.

He started his career in the restaurant business in the early decades of his life. In fact, he was so successful that he managed restaurants across Georgia, Indiana, and Florida.

As captured earlier, Lee became vested in sailing the sea through contacts he had made in the years he worked as a restauranteur. He joined a delivery service that handled sailboats, this provided him with the opportunity to spend more time at sea.
Armed with a passion to sail the sea, Rosbach enrolled to be trained as a sailor. He spent two years at sea before passing the requirement to write his first exam. Nonetheless, it did not discourage him from pursuing his dream. He was able to obtain his license in 1984 at the age of 35 years old.
At first, he sailed fishing boats before he later moved to super yachts. As captain, he has sailed luxury vessels like Cuor Di Leone, Morgan Star LTD, and Sycara IV.

Rosbach’s decision to go into sailing paid off as he found himself on Bravo TV’s hit show, Below Deck in 2013. The reality series follows the lives of crew members and wealthy guests who travel around the world. Since he joined, the ‘stud of the sea’ as Rosbach is referred to has remained a fixture on the show for over a decade.
Now in its 10th season, the Below Deck captain reveals that he never thought he would be a star. Moreso, his scenes are not scripted. As the captain of the series, he has sailed My Seanna, Valor, Honor, and Eros as the cameras rolled.

Away from the cameras at sea and all the romantic twists between the crew, Rosbach is a married man. His marriage to Mary Anne Rosbach is close to fifty years yet they are not slowing down on praises(on his part). They tied the knot in 1975, years before he became a sailor.
When they first met, she did not make an impression on him. It was on their second meeting which occurred one month later that she charmed him with her personality. Since then, they have remained together. These days, the elderly couple has found a way of giving off couple vibes, especially on social media. Rosbach fondly calls her My Bride in all their appearances whether at a charity, holiday, or wedding.

6. Is Lee Rosbach a Father?
The 6ft 0 inches tall sailor is a father of four surviving children. He and his wife had a total of five children, made up of four boys and a girl but lost one due to drug addiction on July 27, 2019. His dead son Joshua had struggled with the problem for twenty years. Since his death, the issue of addiction is a sore issue for the reality star. It is not surprising that he shed tears in season 8 of Below Deck after a guest landed in the water in a drunken state.
Moving forward, he and his wife are giving hope to others through Ocean Saviours, a foundation they started in honor of Joshua.

He started experiencing a lack of feeling in the left part of his body when the crew boarded St. David, the charter yard. Despite being hopeful of coping, things only got worse for the sea veteran.
Known for his resilience, Rosbach is hopeful of coming back to the series. He revealed that he promised the crew his return to complete what he started. As part of his recovery process, he is attending therapy sessions and getting support from Mary Ann.
For now, his replacement is Sandy Yawn, the captain of the series spin-off Below Deck Mediterranean.

The book also serves as the memoir of his journey from his hometown in Michigan to different waters as a sailor and reality star.

Rosbach believes in giving back to society. Over the years, he has organized fundraisers to support the Children’s Diagnostic and Treatment Center through the yearly Captain’s Crew Fundraiser. The proceeds are used for the healthcare of children.
