Kandy Johnson Isley is a singer and songwriter who was part of the girl group known as Johnson Sisters. She started the group with her sisters, Krystal and Kimberly Johnson, and has been a professional singer for many decades.

Ronald Isley’s wife, Kandy Johnson, was born on February 24, 1977, in Los Angeles, California. Her father is Robert B. Johnson who had an interest in fitness and according to the 47-year-old singer, was a bodybuilder.
Robert Johnson made sure that Kandy and her siblings were introduced to the spiritual life. He helped build their foundation in the Christian faith and Kandy has been most grateful to him for that.
Kandy Johnson’s mother is Denise Prince Johnson, a choir mistress who also encouraged her children’s spiritual life through music.
Robert and Denise had 4 children together, comprising a boy and 3 daughters. Their daughters are named Krystal Johnson, Kimberly Johnson, and Kandy Johnson Isley.
Johnson Isley’s love and passion for singing began at an early age and she even enrolled in the university to study music.
Upon her graduation from high school in 1995, the songwriter then attended Mount St. Mary’s College located in Emmitsburg, Maryland. There she graduated in 2007, with a degree in Music and Communications.
Kandy Johnson and her Sisters Started the Musical Girl-Group ‘JS’
The Johnson sisters were all very passionate about singing that they even started their own musical group. This group comprised Krystal, Kim, and Kandy and they began to function sometime in the late 80s and early 90s.
Given their musical background from singing in the church choir, it wasn’t so difficult for the girls to compose hit songs. Soon after, they began to serve as backup singers for gospel artists such as Shirley Caesar and Andrae Crouch.
Krystal then got married to another band member known as Philip Bailey and so she left the girl group.
‘Johnson Sisters’ band also known as ‘JS’ band have performed withhave performed with other famous musical acts such as Michael Jackson, Ray Charles, Earth, Wind, and Fire, and even The Isley Brothers. Kandy Isley and her sisters were also part of the contributing vocals to the One World theme song.
Despite their talent and reach, it wasn’t until fellow musician Ronald Isley recognized their craft and decided to sign them to the record label he co-owns with his brother that they began to reach a wider audience with their music.
In 2001, the JS was signed to The Isley Brothers Management record label and also began to feature in their songs and music videos.
2 years later, the girl group released an album with hit songs Ice Cream and Love Angel. Most of the JS songs were written and composed by the sisters.
Subsequently, the JS music band went on to change their group name to ‘Kim and Kandy’.
The group is still very much functional and so is that of her husband. Kandy and her sister still serve as backup singers for her husband’s group.
She Met her Husband through her Musical Pursuits
When Kandy Johnson and her sister got signed to The Isley Brothers label, she became close to Ronald, and soon, a romance started. 4 years later, Ronald and Kandy got married in a ‘fairytale’ wedding with her husband splurging on her jewelry and wedding ring.
Their wedding was held on August 14, 2005, and they have been married for about 19 years now.
Ronald Isley’s wife was 28 years old when they got married and now she is 47 years old. Her husband was 64 years old at the time.
A year later, in December 11, 2006, Kandy Johnson Isley and her husband, Ronald welcome their first child together. Their son, Ronald Isley Jr. is the only known child of the pair and they have continued to shower the boy with love and attention.
Ronald is the first child of his mother but for his father, it is not so. One-half of The Isley Brother’s music group had a daughter from his first marriage. He was once married to Margret Tinsley in 1960 and had a daughter together in 1969. The name of their daughter is Tia Isley.
The marriage between Ronald and Margret ended and he remarried another woman, singer & Songwriter, Angela Winbush. This second marriage lasted from 1993 to 2002.
Kandy was labeled a Gold Digger
Due to the huge age difference between Ronald and his 3rd wife, Kandy was labeled a gold digger. Their relationship and eventual marriage were even speculated to end as many believed it was a fake union.
Kandy Isley debunked the rumor about her being a gold digger. She also sang praises of her husband as she called him a very romantic man.
Seeing that they have been married for many years, it is evident that the relationship is anything but fake. From their social media posts, the couple looks very much invested in their individual and common goals which border around their careers and union.
