In 1986 when he was 2, his family moved and settled in Sweden. It was here that he grew up and attended two of his three art schools.

He first attended the Pernby School of Painting in Stockholm from 2004 to 2006. Shortly, he gained admission to study fine art at the Konstfack University of Arts, Stockholm and graduated in 2009.

The following year, he moved to London and obtained a Master of Fine Art at the Central Saint Martins in 2011.

The Syrian-born Swedish artist and the Puerto Rican singer got married in 2017.

According to reports, the pair started dating in 2016. Yosef made a public announcement about the relationship during an AR, The Foundation for AIDS Research gala in Brazil in April 2016. Later that year, their engagement was announced by Ricky Martin on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
