Justine Maurer has been the wife of the Emmy Awards winner John Leguizamo since 2003. Despite the rise in the divorce rate, the couple has stayed together for almost two decades pursuing their respective careers in acting and fashion respectively.

Justine Maurer’s Early Life and Background
Maurer was born on May 8 1968 into a middle-class family of Jack and Rona Maurer. Her parents were both migrants. She was raised together with her sister Nicole St. John. She also has a stepsister Lisa Bishop.
Her father, Jack Maurer used to work as an executive at financial research and consulting firm.
Based on reports, the actor’s wife is a member of the Vassar’s Class of 1990.
She Met Her Husband Before He Married His First Wife
The 56 year-old estate planner met her husband even before he married his first wife. While on the sets of the 1993 movie Carlito’s Way, the couple acted alongside playing different roles. While Maurer played a cameo role of a customer, her husband played the role of Benny Blanco.
However, at that time, there was nothing that existed between them until the actor divorced his first wife, Yelba Osorio whom he married in August 1994. After his first marriage ended in November 1996, Mauer and the actor reconnected and started dating in 1997.
After two years of dating, the couple welcomed their first child and daughter, Allegra Sky Leguizamo. The following year, the family expanded yet again as Maurer was delivered a son named Ryder Lee Lucas Leguizamo.
The relationship went on for six years before the couple walked down the aisle on June 28, 2003. The then-newlyweds shared their vows in an intimate ceremony at their lakefront home in New York in the presence of their 30 guests. Also, the wedding was reportedly a Catholic-Jewish one since Mauer is Jewish and her husband is Catholic.
Their two lovely kids were engaged in the wedding ceremony. Allegra served as the flower girl while her brother Lucas was the ring bearer.

Justine Maurer’s Father Sued Her Mother in 2003 Before He Died
In 2015, it was reported that Justine Maurer’s father, Jack sued her mother in 2–3 for allegedly influencing him to re-organize his estate plans in her favor. Based on the reports, he was misled by Rona to sign documents that made her in charge of the San Remo apartment and also his Hamptons home.
Despite the lawsuit, Justine’s parents remained married until her father passed at 86 in 2005. His daughter from his first marriage took over the legal action in Manhattan Surrogate’s Court.
The mother of two and her sister, Nicole were the executors of Jack Mauer’s estate. After their mother refused to meet up with the terms of the 2013 stipulation agreement.
Justine’s mother was accused of covering up $17 million rise sale in the property which she was to share 50% profits with her stepdaughter.
Her Husband Has Appeared in Over 100 Films and Has Produced More Than 20
Having started his career as a stand-up comedian, John Leguizamo made his debut on television in 1986 in Miami Vice. His role as Luigi in the Super Mario Bros based on the Mario video game franchise reportedly boosted his acting career and he started getting more comedic roles.
In 1995, he starred in a Latin-oriented variety show called House of Buggin which he created, produced, and wrote 1995. He has since appeared in more than 100 films and has starred in quite a number of productions on Broadway and also animated series. He has equally produced over 20 documentaries as well.
As part of his achievement, he has been nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards and has won one for his stunning performance in Freak in 1999.
Meanwhile, Justine’s husband is not the only actor in the family. Their daughter Allegra is also building a career in acting and has starred in a couple of short films like Lockdown.
