Josh Kiszka is one of the members of the progressive Rock band known as ‘Greta Van Fleet’. The band was formed in Frankenmuth, Michigan in 2012. Since then, they have been an active band, performing and touring together.
By 2017, the band got signed to the American Record label known as ‘Lava Records’. With this record label, Greta Van Fleet released their first EP titled ‘Black Smoke Rising’. Their debut single titled ‘Highway Tune’ ranked on the US Billboard’s Active Rock charts.
Josh Kiszka is the co-founder of the band who referred to their style of music as ‘Progressive Rock’. He and his brothers began the band with a mutual friend. Apart from being the founder of the band, Josh is also the lead singer in the band.

1. Who Is He?
Josh Kiszka was born Joshua Kiszka on the 23rd of April 1996 in Michigan, United States of America. He is the twin brother to Jacob ‘Jake’ Kiszka who is also a member and co-founder of the band.
Josh was born to a chemist father whose name isn’t public knowledge yet. His mother is named Karen Kiszka and she was a science teacher in Michigan. The Kiszka family is comprised of both parents, twin brothers Jake and Josh, a younger brother named Sam Kiszka, and a sister who is known as Veronica ‘Ronnie’ Kiszka.
Although there isn’t much information about Josh’s schooling, judging from that of his brother, they probably attended the same school.
Jake attended Frankenmuth High School and furthered his college education at Delta College. From High School, the twin brothers began polishing their creative sides and were involved in a lot of artistic activities.
2. About The Band Formed By Josh
Greta Van Fleet, as earlier stated, was formed in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It began in the garage of the young boy’s parents’ house. The band started with three Kiszka boys and later on, a friend named Kylie Hauck joined them. They got the name of the band from an 87-year old local resident who gave them permission to use her name as their band’s official name.
Josh is the lead vocalist, Jake is the lead guitarist, and Sam plays the Bass guitar and keyboard while Kylie was on drums. However, Hauck only lasted to 2013 and then exited from the band. They then found a replacement named Danny, for Kylie. Daniel Wagner who joined later on became the band’s drummer.
It is worth noting that Josh isn’t the only vocalist on the band. The other members also form the supporting vocalists to the band. Also, Josh plays the piano and is reportedly quite good at it.
3. His Sound Has Often Been Likened To That Of Robert Plant
Josh Kiszka has been likened to Robert Plant of the Led Zepplin band. Greta Van Fleet also referred to as ‘GVF’ is said to have a sound replicating that of the classical Led Zepplin’s band.
Robert is the lead singer of the Led Zepplin band and Josh being the lead singer of the GVF band sounds like the older band member. However, Josh has said that it wasn’t an intentional thing. He admitted to not knowing of Robert Plant until he was a senior in high school.
4. GVF’s Lead Singer Is A Natural
28 year old Josh is a natural singer. He says he has never been a fan of auto-tune and has never used it. He also says he does not believe in using special effects to enhance the way his voice sounds.

From his high school days, the Kiszka twin has been interested in films and movies. He was part of his school’s theatrical team. Some sources have it that he studied film and theatre. He had a huge interest in almost everything artistic including music and acting.
Josh is a trained videographer and has earned a lot of money writing scripts for short movies. Additionally, he has been featured in a couple of short videos and movies too. Well, these videos mostly include the other members of his band.
6. Josh Kiszka Wrote A Song That Was Featured In A DC Movie
The song ‘Safari Song’ by the Greta Van Fleet band was included in the DC movie ‘Aquaman’. ‘Safari Song’ was written by Josh Kiszka and it made its way to the movie. In the music industry, it is quite commendable when a movie adopts a person or group’s song.
In addition to this, the band’s ‘Lover, Leaver (Taker, Believer’)’ song was used in the 2020 movie titled ‘Unpregnant’.
7. Josh’s Sexual Orientation
A couple of times, the argument about Kiszka’s sexual orientation sprung up. Some sites and blogs have asked if he is gay or has a girlfriend. The answer to this has unfortunately not been revealed yet.

While the Greta Van Fleet band co-founders were just 22 years old, they were nominated for and won the Grammy Award for ‘Rock Album of the Year’. This win was recorded in 2018 and they were even nominated in other categories.
The band was also nominated in the ‘Best New Artist’, ‘Best Rock Performance’, and ‘Best Rock Song’ categories. In the same year, they won several awards at the Detroit Music Awards and although they were absent at the ceremony, their mothers represented and took the awards on their behalf.
