Meet Jimmy Carter’s Children and What They Have Been To?

John William “Jack” Carter, 77

Jimmy Carter’s eldest child, John William Carter, also known as Jack Carter was born on July 3, 1947, in Portsmouth. At that time, the former Us President served in the US navy.

Jack Carter attended Georgia Tech, earning a nuclear physics degree. He also had a law degree from the University of Georgia.

He followed his father’s steps after he ventured into the political arena in 2006. He ran as the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Nevada.

Jack has two children Jason and Sarah from his first marriage to Juliet “Judy” Langford Carter. His son, Jason Carter is a former state senator who won the Democratic nomination for governor of Georgia in 2014. However, he lost the election.

His daughter Sarah Carter worked as a volunteer for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. After he married his second wife, Elizabeth Brasfield, he became stepfather to film director John Chuldenko and Painter Sarah Reynolds.

James Earl “Chip” Carter III, 74

Born on April 12, 1950, James Carter is the second child of Jimmy Carter and Roselyn Smith Carter. The son of the former US president is an attorney and has served as a state senator in Georgia from 1995 to 1999.

Chip, as he is popularly known, has worked as a political consultant for hundreds of campaigns for Democratic candidates.

Besides his political career, he has been married three times. He and his first wife, Caron Griffin had a son named James Earl Carter IV, 49 before they split in 1979. He then married Ginger Hodges and had a daughter named Margaret Alicia Carter, 37. After the marriage ended in 2001, Chip went on to marry his third wife, Becky Payne.

Donnel Jeffery “Jeff” Carter, 72

Co-founder of Computer Mapping Consultants, Donnel Jeffery “Jeff” Carter is a graduate of George Washington University with a geography degree and also a specialty in computer cartography.

Upon his graduation from the university, he and his former professor co-founded the computer mapping consultants.

He and his wife Annette Jene Davis had three children Joshua 40, Jeremy, and James, 40. Unfortunately, his son Jeremy passed away at the age of 28 in 2015. Then on September 19, 2021, his wife Annette died at the age of 68.

Amy Lynn Carter, 57

Amy Carter is the youngest of the four children of Jimmy Carter. She is also his only daughter. Amy was barely 10 years old when her father became president of the United States.

While her father was still in the white house, Amy attended public schools in Washington. She later attended Brown University but she was academically dismissed in 1987 for failing to keep up with her coursework.

In her early 20s, she became very famous as a political activist. She participated in several sit-ins and protests during the 1980s and early 1990s. She was arrested during a 1986 demonstration at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for protesting CIA recruitment.

She has a bachelor’s degree from Memphis College of Art and a master’s in art history from Tulane University. She illustrated The Little Baby Snoogle-Fleejer, her father’s book for children published in 1995.

After graduating from college, she married computer consultant James Wentzel whom she met while she was attending Tulane. During her wedding ceremony, she was not given away because her family believed she did not belong to anyone. She also baked her cake by herself. The pair share a son, Hugo James Wentzel.

before she married Wenzel, she was previously engaged to Brown University classmate, Michael Antonucci.

According to reports, Jimmy Carter’s only daughter has maintained a low profile since the 1990s. She is known to be a member of the board of counselors of the Carter Center. The foundation aims at advocating human rights and diplomacy as established by her father, Jimmy Carter.
