Jemell M. Nelson was an American production assistant who had worked in that capacity for different organizations. He is fondly remembered for his role as a crew member in former Bravo series Queer Eye for the Straight Man which was later picked up by Netflix and is on its 7th season as a reboot titled Queer Eye.

Jemell M. Nelson was Born in 1991
Queer Eye season 7 production assistant, Jemell was born Jemell Michael Nelson on October 11, 1991. His parents are identified as Mrs. Constanza Porche and Mr. Michael Nelson. He grew up as one of 4 children and has siblings named Shelton Magee III (his brother) and Zhane and Zaria Nelson (his sisters).
Jemell was also close to his great-grandmother Una Barnes. He is an African-American but also identifies as a Caribbean man.
Growing up, Nelson seemed to have always had a thing for movies and wanted to be part of productions. He eventually got the chance to, later in life but not until he studied and graduated with a degree in Pre-Med Biology from the University of New Orleans.
The young man was based in New Orleans, Los Angeles and according to staffmeup.com, identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community.
His career in the entertainment industry did not however see the light till after the Covid-19 pandemic.

Is Jemell M. Nelson an Actor?
No, the former New Orleans-based was never an actor. He worked in several series productions but that was as a Production Assistant.
Some of the productions he was part of are, Love and Marriage Huntsville Season 3 (March 2022 – April 2022), as a production assistant. He also served as a COVID-19 Compliance officer and assistant for the same series from March to August of the same year. The series aired on ITV.
After that, Jemell M. Nelson became a production assistant for the 7th episode of Queer Eye Season 7.
A Tribute was Paid to Jemell after the 7th Episode of Queer Eye Season 7
For those who don’t know what Queer Eye series is all about, it is, just as the title suggests, a series about a group of 5 queer men in the fashion industry.
These men are referred to as the Fab Five whose mission was to help style straight men. These men included Food and Wine expert, Antoni Porowski, Design expert, Bobby Berk, Hair, personal hygiene, and makeup guru, Jonathan Van Ness, Karamo Brown, the Culture and Lifestyle expert as well as Tan France as the fashion expert.
This series has caught the eye of a lot of Netflix subscribers and has been described as the ‘most loved’ series.
Jemell got involved in this series in the 7th series of the season and that was when people took note of the name. This episode aired on May 12, 2023, and unfortunately, Nelson wasn’t alive to watch the episode air.
At the end of that episode of the series finale, the producers of the show paid tribute to Jemell who was shot dead sometime in November 2022.

Jemell M. Nelson’s Cause of Death
On November 14, 2022, multiple gunshots were heard at City Park, around the 900 block of North Carrollton Avenue. Residents of the area heard the shots which were fired around 2 a.m. early that Monday morning. The authorities were duly called but by the time they arrived at the scene, Jemell Michael Nelson was already dead.
He was found with multiple gunshot wounds but unfortunately, there’s been no clue of who the culprit is or what the reason for the murder could be.
The celebration of life ceremony for Jemell was held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Franklin Avenue Baptist Church. Michael Nelson was survived by his parents and siblings and his great-grandmother.
His death was a huge, unpleasant shock to his friends and family members who seized every opportunity to post and make tributes to him.
At the time of his death, Jemell Michael Nelson, the production assistant for the Queer Eyes series was just 31 years old.
