Jake Brennan is a Boston-based musician. He fell in love with music at a tender age after his father introduced it to him. His popularity soared when he became the lead singer for the punk band “Cast Iron Hike,” and subsequently formed his own band, the “Confidence men.” He started running the podcast- Disgraceland in 2018, which soon attracted a cult-like following due to the kind the stories he shares.

Early Life And Background of Jake Brennan
Jake Brennan was born in 1974 in Boston, Massachusetts. His father, Dennis Brennan was a singer/songwriter known to have worked with several Boston-based bands such as “The Martells” and his personal band “Push Push.”
While growing up the host of the Disgraceland podcast was introduced to music at the age of 10 by his father. At the time, his father took him to the band opening for “The Ramones” and that marked the beginning of his romance with rock and roll music.
He was so obsessed with the genre and began to read about it all the time, and he would often tell the tales of it to his friends who think he fabricates them. It was this obsession that lead him to join a band subsequently and thus his musical journey began.
As regards education, he attended Northeastern University, Boston in 1994 and graduated in 1996 with a major in the music business and a minor in political science. Two years after graduation, he enrolled at Harvard Extension School and graduated in 1999.
He Musical Career Began At 19 With Cast Iron Hike
The Boston native’s love for rock and roll music lead him to join the punk rock band Cast iron Hike in 1993 when he was 19. Being his first, he became the band’s lead singer (vocals). The band released the album Watch it Burn in 1997 and 2 EPs, The Salmon Drive EP and Cast Iron Hike in 1995 and 1996, respectively.
The band split in 1997 and everybody went separate ways. Brennan formed his band “Confidence Men” with Eric Barlow, Scott Janovitz, Rob Dulaney, and Blinky. In 2001, the band got a breakthrough after doing a reunited version of Treat Her Right with record producer, Paul Q. Kolderie. What they did impress Kolderie who then invited them over to his studio and went on to produce most of the songs from the debut album (Love & Bombs) of the 51 year-old.
Love & Bombs, a 12-track album was released on 21st September 2004. It includes tracks such as Shake “Em on Down, If It Takes All Night, Believe Me, Two of Kind, and Annie May. Interestingly, that same 2004, the Boston native and his band won WBCN’s Boston “battle of the bands,” also known as The Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble, which started as far back as 1975.
Years later, he needed more money to take care of his bills and that of his family, he took the job of a creative director at GYK Antler and Thunders & Watt in Boston Massachusetts for 2 years from 2015 to 2017.

The 51 year-old Boston native started running the Disgraceland podcast in 2018. The podcast tells the stories of musicians getting away with murder and bad behavior. Just two days after the release of its first season, the podcast was number 7 on the overall ‘Top Podcasts” chart on Apple Podcasts. Moreover, it was downloaded in almost 200 countries a million times.

Despite the success he had with his band, he needed something bigger to fall back on, and so he asked his wife if she could hire him for a job, what will it be? She told him she would want the kind of stories he always talks about at parties, especially the crazy stories of the music industry. But he told her that it’s not a job.
He asked his friend, Adma Talyor the same question and got a similar response. After all two people can be wrong at the same time. Hence, Disgraceland was birthed.
The name “Disgraceland” came from the moniker locals gave Jerry Lee Lewis, which even became the first story of the podcast in February 2018.
4. His Parents Divorced When He Was 2
The parents of the Boston-born musician reportedly slipt when he was 2 years old. That means they divorced in 1976. As a result of the divorce, he grew up in Clinton, Worcester with his mother, stepfather, and 3 half-siblings.
