With finding a new man, getting a new job, and preparing to start going to church, life seemed to have taken a new good turn for the American woman, Heather Elvis. It all changed when she disappeared in the wee morning hours of December 18, 2013, and has since been missing without a trail.
For the 54 years that Heather has been missing, there are no answers to what happened to the then-20-year-old waitress. Nonetheless, a few arrests have been made and the most popular opinion is that she may have been killed by her ex, Sidney Moorer, or his wife Tammy Moorer; or the couple knew something they weren’t willing to share with the public or court.
Her case has lasted over a decade without being solved. Yet, her ex, Moorer, and his wife have both received a 30-year sentence each for the kidnapping of Elvis.
Even at that, here is the entire story of what happened to Heather Elvis, how she disappeared and was never found, and the aftermath of what happened the night after her disappearance.
Heather Elvis Just Returned From a Date Before Her Disappearance
On December 17, 2013, Heather had gone out on a date with a man, Steven Schiraldi. She was moving past her relationship with her former married lover Sidney Moorer whom she reportedly broke up with in October 2013.
Heather and Schiraldi were out around 10 p.m. and went to different places before they returned to Elvis’ house where Schiraldi dropped her off around 1:15 a.m. before going his own way.
As a result of the date, Schiraldi was Heather’s last known physical contact before her disappearance. However, he was not the last person she spoke with. Actually, she spoke to two other people.
First, she spoke to Sidney who called her through a payphone. The call came in only 20 minutes after Heather arrived at her apartment and it lasted only 5 minutes. The call was said to have been Sidney informing Heather that he was planning to leave his wife but he wanted them (Heather and Sidney) to meet.
The second and last call was made by Heather who called her roommate Brianna Kulzer to tell her about the date and call with Sidney – which Kulzer advised against.
Subsequent investigation shows that at 2:29 am, Heather called back the payphone that Sidney used but there was no response. Her phone showed signal and activity and she was at the boat landing until her phone’s signal disappeared at 3:41 am.
Security Camera Footage Linked Sidney to Heather
After her disappearance and with the authority investigating, it was established through surveillance video that a car had driven along Moorer’s home and Peachtree landing (the boat landing). Further investigations show that the car was Sidney’s in the early morning hours of Elvis’ disappearance.
A day later, on 19 December 2013, Elvis’ car was also found at the boat landing. There were no traces of some of her personal belongings such as car keys, cell phone, and purse – believing that she may have had them at the time she disappeared.
Still, on what was found and linking it to her former lover, Sidney, Police reports show that at about 1:12 AM, shortly before Heather was never heard of, surveillance video showed Sidney at a store where he bought cigars and pregnancy tests. After leaving, he was seen making a phone call at a gas station.

The Truth about Why Heather Elvis Disappeared
There are pointers that Elvis was pregnant and the possible father could be Sidney. Just before her disappearance, she added weight and also took a pregnancy test that returned as an error.
However, there is no definite answer if this is why she disappeared.
Also, Elvis had earlier been warned by Tammy, Sidney’s wife to stay away from her husband. Tammy had called Elvis names even on Facebook while Elvis on her part had made some pointers regarding her affair with Sidney on social media.
Again, Tammy asked her husband to leave Elvis. She went as far as using cuffs on him just to keep him home at night – an allegation that she denied in court. Other allegations that resulted from the relationship are that Tammy seized her husband’s phones, changed his phone lock, threatened Elvis, physically abused her husband (Sidney), and sent her intimate moments with Sidney to Elvis.
Elvis also went to social media at a point but without calling a name. She opined that she liked older men and gave out several other hints that may be related to Sidney.
Whatever the Truth is, Elvis Has Not Been Found 54 Years Later but Arrests Have Been Made
Elvis has not been found and her family has not received closure on what happened to her. Yet arrests and indictments have been made since she disappeared.
The first two arrests made were on January 28, 2014, on William Christopher Barrett and Garrett Ryan Starnes. They were not suspects but they were charged with obstruction of justice after they posted information on social media about the case. Their information turned out to be false or misleading. Both were later released.
Other key arrests made were of the main suspects – Sidney and his wife Tammy Moorer. The couple maintained their innocence and by March 2016, prosecutors dropped murder charges against them.
In June 2016, a trial for Elvis’ disappearance was opened and the case was termed as a mistrial.
In court, Tammy’s cousin claimed that Sidney had shown him on his phone that he (Sidney) knew more about the case than he was telling the police but he (Tammy’s cousin) did not elaborate.
Subsequently, both Sidney and Tammy who were already parents of three children received a 30-year sentence each for the kidnapping of Elvis.
The Aftermath of Heather Elvis’ Disappearance
The case has left scars on the lives of Elvis’ loved ones and it has remained an unsolved disappearance.
Her family keeps her memory by going to the Peachtree landing where her car was found to hold a vigil every 18 December.
Also, the family prays for people who have lost their loved ones on the 18th of every month.
Elvis’ parents, Terry Elvis (father) and Debbie Elvis (mother), and her sister Morgan Elvis may not have completely healed over the loss of their family, especially because there is no real story about what happened to her.
The young girl of 20 at the time of her disappearance is one of the over 627,000 people to have gone missing in America in 2013. She is also one of those who went missing without any trace.
