Hopie Carlson is the daughter of the American conservative television host and political commentator Tucker Carlson with his wife Susan Thomson Carlson. She has been in the limelight since she was born but her father is the most popular one in the family. Tucker Carlson’s media career began in the 1990s and he has achieved a certain level of success in his career.

She is not the only child of the political commentator, he has three other children with his wife Susan.

Hopie Carlson’s Early Life and Background

Hopie Carlson was born in Virginia in 1999. She is the third child of Tucker and his wife Susan. Her other siblings are Lillie, Buckley, and Dorothy.

She spent most of her teenage years in Virginia where she was enrolled in the Rhode Island St. George’s School. There are reports that suggest that Tucker’s daughter also attended St. Patrick Episcopal Day School.

After she graduated from high school, she enrolled at Virginia University.

Hopie’s parents first met at a Rhode Island boarding school St. George School. At that time, her mother was the headmaster’s daughter. Her parents married on August 10, 1991, in the chapel at St. George’s school.

Her parents have been married for nearly three decades. The 30 years union has been blessed with four children. Lillie is the oldest, followed by Buckley, Hopie, and lastly Dorothy.

Buckley was named after his father’s brother. While there’s nothing much about Buckley, it is speculated that he works for U.S. Rep Jim Banks. He joined Banks’ Capitol Hill staff in Washington after he graduated from the University of Virginia.

There is not much information about Hopie’s other siblings, Lillie and Dorothy.

1. Hopie’s father proposed to her  mother six months before he graduated from college

Tucker and Susan reportedly met when they were both 15 years. The couple first met during the first week of 10th grade at St. George. Tucker later moved to Trinity College in Hartford. Six months before his graduation, he asked Susan’s father for permission to marry her.

2. Her father was abandoned by his mother at the age of six

Tucker was born to his parents Richard Warner Carlson and Lisa McNear Lombardi on 16th May 1969. His father is a former Los Angeles news anchor and U.S. ambassador to Seychelles.

At the tender age of six, Tucker’s mother Lisa who led a Bohemian lifestyle abandoned the family and moved to France. According to reports, Tucker’s parents divorced after nine years of marriage.

His father and stepmother, Patricia Caroline Swanson raised the commentator and his brother Buckley in La Jolla, California.

3. The CIA turned down her father’s application

When Hopie’s father graduated with a B.A. in History in 1991, he wanted to work for the Central Intelligence Agency. According to reports, he applied for it but was turned down. His father then urged him to seek a career in journalism.

He began his career as a magazine and newspaper writer until he had a huge break as the co-host of the spin room on CNN.

4. One of her siblings was in the capitol during the January 6 riot

Hopie Carlson’s father revealed that one of her siblings was in the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 2021 attacks. Although he did not specify which of his children was in the Capitol, it is speculated that it was his son Buckley since he works for Indiana Rep. Jim Bank’s office.

5. Her father was accused of rape

Hopie’s father was accused of rape by a woman named Kimberly Carter in the early 2000s in a Kentucky pizzeria. The accusation nearly ended his career and marriage but luckily for him Carter later came out to apologize to him. She admitted that she had a mental disorder which made her think he had assaulted her.

6. Protestors tried to break into her family home in 2018

In November 2018, a mob of protestors tried to break into Hopie Carlson’s family home in Washington DC. Her mother was the only one at home so she locked herself in the pantry and called 911. She thought it was a home invasion.

Tucker later argued it wasn’t a protest but rather a threat. He believed the mob was not protesting anything he said but rather they were threatening him and his entire family.

7. Hopie’s grandfather was accused of not reporting a teacher that was accused of sexual assault to authorities

Hopie’s maternal grandfather, Rev Andrews was the headmaster at the St. Andrew’s school. He retired from the school in 2007 but in 2016, The Associated Press reported that the Diocese of Southeast Florida demanded an independent investigation into Rev. Andrews. The report found out that the Reverend fired a choirmaster for inappropriate sexual behavior with a student.

According to reports, Rev. Andrew’s lawyer advised him against reporting the choirmaster to authorities. Also, when the choirmaster was leaving, the dean of students gave him a positive job recommendation which was also to the knowledge of the Reverend.

8. Her father revealed he’d never let any of his daughters date a feminist man

According to reports, Tucker Carlson once revealed that he’d never let his daughter date a man who calls himself a feminist. According to him, all feminists are creeps.

Tucker made this statement while he was discussing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s blackface scandal.

However, the TV host has also urged parents to keep their sons away from Oprah Winfrey’s show which he believes is anti-male. He also added he stopped watching Oprah Winfrey’s show after he had his son. Tucker revealed he doesn’t want to raise his son in an environment where “Oprah was constantly attacking men.”

Due to the backlash his statement received, Tucker defended himself by giving two examples of men he considers are feminists: Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy. He said such men are abusive misogynists.

9. Her father and his only brother were reportedly involved in a lawsuit 

According to Celebrity net worth, Tucker’s mother was the beneficiary of an oil and gas partnership in rural areas of central California. Tucker and his brother thought the royalty rights were worth more than $125,000 but they later realized it was worth a minimum of $2.5 million. The brothers decided to sue their late mother’s estate. The lawsuit is reportedly still unsettled.

10. How rich is she?

Hopie Carlson has not revealed her career yet so it would be hard to estimate her net worth at the moment. Meanwhile, that of her father is reportedly around $30 million as of December 2021.

Tucker Carlson earns $6 million as his salary with Fox News. Tucker worked as CNN commentator from 2000-2005 and later hosted a show on MSNBC from 2005 to 2008. Aside from being a published author and columnist, he is also the co-founder of the website The Daily Caller. He later sold his 1/3 stake to Patel for an undisclosed amount.
