Glenda Jackson met her Husband in her 20s
Glenda Jackson’s husband, Roy Hodges was in the entertainment industry as an actor and repertory company stage manager. He met his wife when they were both part of the same theatre company in their early 20s.
Without wasting time, the couple moved their relationship to another step. By August 2, 1958, when Jackson was 22 years old, they got married. Their wedding was held at St. Marylebone Register Office, London.
11 years into their marriage, Roy and the Women in Love actress welcomed their first and only child together. Their son, Daniel Pearce Jackson Hodges was born on March 7, 1969, in Lewisham.
Dan was close to both father and mother despite his parent’s divorce in 1976. He was barely 7 years old when his parents split. Nonetheless, the celebrity son went to good schools and studied English Literature and Communications. He also dabbled into politics and wrote for the conservative newspaper.
Roy Hodges left the entertainment industry a few years into his marriage to become an art dealer.
Roy Hodges Divorced Glenda on the Base of Infidelity
As already stated, Glenda and Roy got divorced in 1976. Roy filed for divorce from the mother of his son and sued her for infidelity.
Glenda and her ex-husband were having a difficult time in their marriage and this led to her having an affair with Hedda Gabler’s lighting director, Andy Phillips.
Hodges and Jackson however remained cordial and were even in an on-off relationship for a few years. By 1981, they called it quits finally and went their separate ways.
Glenda does not believe that their divorce ended amicably and she probably considers it an unfortunate incident. She however continued her relationship with Phillips but it ended as just a relationship and was short-lived.
After her divorce from the father of her son, the Triple Crown of Acting awardee never remarried. She remained single and when asked ‘why?’ in an interview, she responded that the interviewer should probably ask the men in London.
