According to the statement delivered by Glenda Jackson’s longtime agent Lionel Larner, the actress died after a brief illness at her home in Blackheath southeast London. She was surrounded by her loved ones when she died on June 15, 2023, a few weeks after her 87th birthday.
Glenda was born on May 9, 1936, in Birkenhead, in Wirral, and grew up alongside 3 sisters. She was preceded by her parents Harry Jackson, a building contractor, and Joan Jackson, a domestic cleaner.
She Was Married to Roy Hodges for 18 Years
Glenda Jackson and Roy Hodges were married from 1958 to 1976. As the story goes, the pair met while working at a theatre company in London in their early 20s. They soon became friends and later started dating. It wasn’t long before they decided to exchange vows on August 2, 1958, in a ceremony held at the St. Marylebone Register Office in London.
Glenda and Roy lived together for almost 2 decades until trouble began to brew in their marriage leading to a divorce in their 18th year. According to sources, her then-husband Roy sued her on claims that Glenda was having an affair with lighting director Andy Philips.
While these claims were neither confirmed nor refuted, it is reported that Glenda and Philip continued their relationship until 1981 when they parted ways.
Recalling this period, she stated that though she still saw her ex-husband occasionally, they were not on good terms.

Glenda Jackson Survived by her Son and Grandson
The marriage between the actress and Roy saw the birth of their child, a son born Daniel Pearce Jackson Hodges. He was born sometime in 1969 and is 56 years old at the moment.
Not so much is known about Glenda’s son however, we know that he works as a UK newspaper columnist. He is married and has a 16-year-old son.
Sometime in 2020, the Macbeth actress revealed that she was living with her son Daniel and her grandson.
