George Tickner’s wife is not in the spotlight because she does not exist. From our findings, the co-founder and first rhythm guitarist of the San Francisco band, “Journey” was never married. He was known to be part of the band for about 3 years before he left for his medical studies. While he maintained his passion for music, he completely kept his personal life under wraps.
Following his death on July 5, 2023, at the age of 76, curiosity has been drawn to his lovelife. Here’s all we know.
George Tickner was Never Married
As hinted already, George’s penchant for privacy managed to keep his personal life from the public glare. However, from what we garnered, he was never married and was not publicly linked to any woman throughout his lifetime. While it’s possible that he may have had several relationships, none was ever recorded.
However, following his sad demise in 2023, a woman identified as Kiltty Nikolai made a post where she revealed that George was her former boyfriend. She added that they were very good friends for a long time before they started dating eventually 40 years ago and noted that the news of his death brought back some memories. Kitty who also pursues a career in the music industry said she would never forget how he plays “Blackbird” on his guitar just the way he likes it.

His Life Revolved around the San Francisco Band, “Journey”
Even though, George kept his personal life away from the limelight, his contributions to the band were obvious and would always be remembered. As you would find, he was one of the founding members of the Journey alongside Valory, Neal Schon, Gregg Rolie, and Praire Prince.
He was with the band for about 3 years since joining in 1973 and appeared in their first public performance at the Winterland Ballroom on New Year’s Eve. He was also part of the band’s first recording of their 1975 debut and holds credit for writing songs such as “Of a Lifetime”, Topaz” and “Mystery Mountain”.
However, he left the band after the release of their debut album to pursue a career in medicine at the Stanford Medical School on scholarship. Nonetheless, he was still part of the band and collaborated with his former bandmate Ross Volory to create The Hive recording studio. There, they would write and compose songs. Later, the keyboardist Stevie ‘Keys’ Roseman joined them to form the band VTR. The trio then released their album ‘Cinema” alongside members of “The Journey such as Schon, Steve Smith, and Prairie Prince.
In 2005 George reunited with many of his bandmates on the Hollywood Walk of Fame as they received stars for their immense contributions to the music industry.
