While it is difficult to find out more about her parents’ childhood and family history, we learned from her father’s Facebook page that he is from Odesa, Ukraine, and graduated from National Sport School in 1978. He was also a former wrestler, though it is unknown how long he wrestled.
Her mother’s origins, on the other hand, are unknown. She was a competitive rower, however, it is unclear how long she competed.
Furthermore, her parents, including her older brother, lived in Odesa until the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, when they were forced to flee. According to reports, Elina revealed that while her parents were able to leave the country, her grandmother Tamara, as well as her uncle and his family, were stranded in the city. It’s unknown whether they’ve ultimately made it out or are still trapped.

Elina’s Older Brother Transition From A Tennis Player To A Coach
Julian Svitolin, Elina Svitolina’s older brother, was born on September 29, 1985, in Odesa, Ukraine, and is now 39 years old
He started competing on the ATP Tour at the age of 15 and quickly rose to become one of Europe’s top players. At the age of 14, he competed in events alongside Rafael Nadal, Richard Gasquet, Gael Monfils, and Sergei Stakhovsky.
He won a scholarship to train at the prestigious Juan Carlos Ferrero tennis academy in Spain, where he worked with players such as Dinara Safina and Igor Andreev.
After his tennis career, he took to coaching full time in 2003 as a head coach a hitting partner of his younger sister, Elina Svitolina for 5 years. He also spent 3 years as the head coach of the Nike Junior Tour of the National Ukrainian team.
He now runs the Svitolin Tennis Academy in Los Angeles, California.
Tennis Brought Svitolina And Monfils Together
Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils had crossed paths at tournaments and knew each other a little bit before they started dating in 2019. According to reports, the two had the opportunity to talk in Paris, although under different circumstances.
Monfils claims he knew she was in town, so he sent a text inviting her to a hangout with some of his friends, to which she consented. Elina, on the other hand, stated that she hesitated at first before agreeing.
They continued to see each other after the hangout until they announced their engagement in April 2021 and married on July 16, 2021. Skai Monfils, their daughter, was born on October 15, 2022.
