According to several reports, David has stayed out of the spotlight and away from the Playboy brand. While his career is still disputed, there are claims that he owns a computer-consulting company and another that he is a computer-graphics specialist for independent films.
His first independent film, Forgotten Pills won the grand jury prize at the 2010 Dances with Films Festival. In 2014, he released his second feature film Washed. David Hefner’s Parents were Married for Almost a Decade
Hefner’s parents first met at the University of Illinois. After dating for a while, they got married in 1949. Before the wedding, his mother confessed to Hugh that she had an affair while he was in the army. Although that did not separate them, Hugh Hefner revealed it was the most devastating moment of his life.
For that reason, David’s mother allegedly allowed his father to sleep with other women out of guilt for her own infidelity. The marriage finally ended in 1959, after 10 years. David was barely 4 years and his sister, Christie was reportedly 7 years.
David Hefner’s mother later remarried a man called Edwin Gunn and moved to Wilmette. The two siblings went on to live with their mother and stepfather. According to reports, the relationship between David and his father deteriorated in that he and his sister changed their surnames to Gunn but later returned to using Hefner after mending their strained relationship with their father.

1. Christie Hefner
Christie is the only biological sibling of David. Unlike her brother, she has been fully involved in the family business. She served as Playboy’s CEO for more than 20 years and has worked there for more than three decades.
David’s sister began working at their father’s company in 1975 and became CEO in 1988. After she resigned, she got involved in several charity projects. She established the Hugh M. First Amendment Award and helped raise $30 million for CORE Chicago, an outpatient facility for AIDS.
In addition to that, Christie Hefner has delivered talks on criminal justice and the prevention of drug abuse.
2. Marston Hefner
Born April 9, 1990, Marston Hefner is David’s half-brother. His mother is Kimberly Conrad which makes him the first child of his parents. His parents divorced in 2010 after being separated for 11 years.
Reports say he is a writer and gamer. He writes under the name Marston Glen. Besides that, he was allegedly arrested in 2012 on suspicion of attacking his then-girlfriend, Claire Sinclair, a Playboy Playmate. He was allegedly sentenced to one year in a domestic-violence program.
3. Cooper Hefner
Cooper Hefner is the youngest of Hugh’s children. He is Marston’s younger brother and only biological sibling.
The 33-year-old Cooper became the chief creative officer at Playboy Enterprises after his father stepped down. He is also the founder and former CEO of the HOP. He is married to Harry Potter actress, Scarlett Byrne.
Following the death of their father in 2017, David and his siblings received some shares from their father’s estate. They in turn sold the shares for roughly $35 million.
