Bet Daria Medvedeva didn’t know that many years down the line she would be the wife of Daniil Medvedev when she first met him aged 12.

They were both tennis amateurs at the time and while Daria hung out at a courtside café with her team and other tennis players, her now-husband was practicing how to win multiple Tennis titles.

Well, Daniil Medvedev has won 20 (and counting) ATP Tour singles titles. He has also won the heart of the woman who now bears his last name. Although her own tennis career was cut short, the one-time World No. 1 is doing all the playing and winning for both of them.

Daria Medvedeva Had Hopes of Being a Tennis Player, Perhaps Better than Her Husband

Back when she was still a very young girl, from the age of 6, Daria had plans and desires of being a tennis pro. She worked tirelessly towards achieving this goal and it seemed like she was well on the way. She was born in Moscow, Russia, just like her husband, and could be the same age as him.

Despite a promising career in tennis, Daria, unfortunately, suffered strings of injuries. They were so intense, she had to kiss professional athletics ‘goodbye’. She was forced, by said injuries, to forego her aspirations of pursuing a professional career in sports.

However, seeing that her husband is one of the few tennis players to beat Novak Djokovic at the game, she still basks in the tennis glory.

She stopped playing tennis in her teenage years (17/18) and went on to focus on her studies. spotsmanor.com reveals that Daniil Medvedev’s wife studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. They also stated that she began working as a model and fashion blogger after her schooling.

Admittedly Daria met her husband without knowing that he would be so, at the age of 12.

As earlier stated, Daria and a couple of other tennis players were having lunch at a sports café then. While there, they heard howling, screams, and the sounds of tennis rackets. Her mother inquired what was going on and that was when the father of Veronika Kudermetova, said it was Medvedev playing. The party then went to watch Daniil play.

However, it wasn’t until 2014, that the sportsman and former sportswoman began to date. Their relationship lasted for 4 years before they got married.

Medvedev and Daria got married on September 12, 2018, in a private ceremony. They reveal very little about their personal lives but are generous with sharing loved-up pictures on social media.

On October 14, 2022, 4 years into their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child together. The former World No. 1 announced that he was a father by posting a picture of his daughter. He further accompanied the photo with the caption ‘Welcome to the world baby girl’. Their daughter’s name has been revealed to be Alisa.

She was dedicated on April 18, 2023, and the event was witnessed by other tennis stars. One in particular is Andrey Rublev who is presumed to be Alisa’s godfather.

Daria’s husband has noted how her knowledge of tennis is a blessing to him. He revealed that since they got married, his career has only been rising. Daria also gave him a lot of confidence according to the tennis player.

In 2021, he attributed his US Open Grand Slam win (his very first) to his thoughts about his wife.

He has gone on to win many more titles and everyone around him believes Daria came with many strokes of luck.

Daria, being a former athlete, doesn’t fail to support him by being present at his games. She also stands by his side, win or lose.

Daria Medvedeva’s husband certainly has a lot to be thankful to his wife for seeing where he stands right now in the world.
