Chuck Negron is one of the popular American lead vocalists of rock music in the 1960s and 70s. You must have come across the legendary Three Dog Night if you were an ardent listener of rock music in that era.

Whenever the name of the group is mentioned, the name that comes to mind, Chuck Negron. He was part and parcel of the group. The singer founded the rock band alongside fellow vocalists Danny Hutton and Cory Wells in 1967.

But before taking to music, he was involved in Sports. He played collegiate basketball. And was enlisted to play for California State University, LA.

Apart from singing, he is also a father and grandfather.

Who Is Chuck Negron?

Chuck Negron was born on the 8th of June 1942 in Manhattan, New York, America by his parents Charles Negron and Elizabeth Rooke. He grew up in The Bronx alongside his twin sister Nancy. However, his father who sings in a nightclub and his mother ended their marriage when he was 5.

He is currently 82 years old.

While growing up, he showed an interest in singing and basketball. He developed the talents to sing at various doo-woop groups, and for basketball at Schoolyard pickup games and the William Howard Taft High School.

Because of his skill and talent in basketball, Allan Hancock College drafted him in Santa Maria and later California State University to play basketball.

The New Yorker was an incredible basketball player, but music stole his heart.

The iconic rock singer married four times to four different women on four different occasions. And with these women come the birth of several children. Three of the four wives gifted him a child each.

He strolled into marriage first in 1970, tying the knots with Paula Louise Ann Goetten. The marriage lasted for three years. But before it ended in 1973, Paula gave birth to their daughter, Shaunti Negron-Levick.

Three years later he married Julia Densmore, the ex-wife of John Densmore in 1976. The union lasted for a decade in which Charles Negron (Chuckie) was born. During their marriage, he acted as a step-dad for Julie’s son, Berry Duane Oakley.

His third marriage was to Robin Silna. They got married in 1993 and separated in 2001. During the eight years of marriage, Silna gave birth to their daughter, Charlotte Rose Negron.

When his third marriage ended, he was involved with the Canadian-born American TV and Movie actress Kate Vernon. The relationship led to the birth of Annabelle Negron.

In 2005 Chuck became a grandfather when his son Charles Chuck Negron (Chuckie) and Jen welcome Noah.

Chuck’s last and fourth marriage was to the woman, who had managed him all these years, Ami Albea. The nuptial held on the 9th May 2020 at the balcony of Chuck’s home in the presence of his two youngest daughters and the officiating minister. The reason behind the private wedding ceremony at home was because of COVID-19 restrictions.

1. He Spent Two Years At The Orphanage With His Twin Nancy

When his parents divorced, his mother Elizabeth took him and his twin sister to an orphanage. However, after staying there for two years, she came back and picked them up.

2. Chuck Negron Suffered Heroin Addiction

At the heart of his bubbling music career, the rock-and-roll lifestyle took a negative toll on him and he slumped into grave heroin addiction. The addiction was further fueled by the split of the group in 1976. However, he started indulging in the early 70s.

3. Arrested In 1975 For Cocaine Possession

His addiction to substances was severe that cocaine was found in his custody in 1975. They reported that the rock singer was arrested in the US state of Kentucky for cocaine possession.

4. He Dropped Out of More Than 30 Drug Treatment Facilities

Before he became sober from his addiction, the rock singer went to over 30 rehab centers. After so many years of wallowing in drug addiction, he came out of it.

5. His Autobiography Is Used AS Guide In US Rehabilitation Facilities

He finally came out of his addiction after over two decades. And he wrote a personal story of his life, career, and drug addiction. He titled the autobiography Three Dog Nightmare: The Chuck Negron Story.

Since the release of the book in 1999, it has proved helpful to rehab facilities across the US.

6. He Has A Medical Condition

His doctor made a shocking revelation to him in May 2017. He has Chronic Obstructive Disease (COPD), which is followed by Emphysema. To manage and contain the health condition, the singer must curtail or stop performing.

7. Net Worth
