In  1987, actor Chance Michael Corbitt played the horror character of Laddie in The Lost Boys, a film that depicted mysterious happenings in a small coastal town. Even though Corbitt was only 11 at the time, he was lauded for his ability to switch from a lonesome child to a fierce vampire.

Howbeit, after a brief run in the late 80s and 90s, he joined in the fate of many actors who started off as child actors with great potential but suddenly disappeared. While Corbitt may have been seen in a number of horror conventions, the question as regards his whereabouts has remained unanswered. Here’s what we’ve garnered.

When Was He Born?

Chance Michael Corbitt was born to his parents on June 20 1976 in  Ohio, USA which is one of the most vibrant and exciting cities in the states. He was raised alongside other members of his family whose identities are elusive to the media. 

There are dearths of information about Corbitt’s early life and educational pursuits. What is known however is that he had his education preparatory education in Ohio.

Chance Michael Corbitt Made His Acting Debut at the Age of 11 

Since details about Chance Michael Corbitt’s parent and early life is not known, it’s difficult to establish what would have spurred his acting career. However, we garnered that he made his film debut in 1987 at the age of 11. Corbitt was the youngest cast in the film The Lost Boys portraying the character of Laddie. 

The comedy horror film which was written by Jeffery Boam and directed by Joel Schumacher narrates a story of a small coast town in California that was plagued by a lot of mysterious happenings and folklore characters like vampires and vampire hunters. As the story goes, Corbitt who is portrayed as Laddie is a strange, lonesome child who in a bid of finding a protective companion gets himself entangled in the vampire’s gang and becomes one of them. However, in the end, he changes into a human and joins the vampire hunters

Although Corbitt was not the primary character of the movie, he was one of the favorite characters of many viewers. His raw display of talent and switch to different characters made fans wonder if he had been acting for decades.

Did He Make Other Movie Appearances?

Although Corbitt is most popular for his debut movie, the Lost Boys, he made appearances in a few other movies before he faded off the screen. Corbitt was popular in the early 80s and 90s for his roles in Pumpkinhead as Eddie Harley and in The Rocketeer (1991) as the Newspaper kid. In 1989, he portrayed the recurring role of Kyle Buchannon in the TV series Baywatch.

Following undisclosed circumstances, In 1994 Corbitt faded from the movie scene but made a swift comeback in 2005. On his return, he was cast in a minor role as Peter Jelliffe for the movie Marilyn Hotchkiss’ Ballroom Dancing & Charm School.

Later in 2014, he appeared in Hallows Eve, a  movie that saw him return to the horror genre even though he portrayed the minor character of Tommy. Since then Corbitt has maintained a relatively low profile in the industry. In fact, that was reportedly his last movie appearance.

What is Chance Michael Corbitt up to at 48? 

Corbitt’s biggest role in the entertainment industry was coincidentally his debut movie which also starred Corey Haim, Jason Sutherland, and Jami Gertz. Since then, he never got any better role which probably led to his break from the industry.

Nonetheless, as stated, he made a brief comeback in 2005 and settled for minor roles until 2014 when he turned his back on the screen. Though he left no trail of his other businesses, we garnered that he is still dabbling in acting. Also, he actively participates in horror conventions alongside actors from the Lost Boys.

Although Corbitt may have seemingly joined the trope of horror kid actors like Louise and Lisa Burns who disappeared after a hard break, fans have kept their fingers crossed on the possibility of a great comeback. If this gets to happen, he would be compared to actors like Robert Englund, Tony Todd, and Alice Krige of Sleepwalkers that have stayed relevant in the horror genre.
