I saw a girl in a spotted bathing suit, and I said, ‘I’m going to marry that woman.’ I didn’t even want to get married, but I couldn’t breathe,”
The following year, soon after her reign as Miss World Chubby proposed to her at his parent’s house and they got engaged. The pair would then exchange vows on April 12, 1964, at Tenple Lutheran Church at the age of 22.
Since then, Catharina and Chubby have been on a journey filled with love, companionship, and shared dreams. Even though they have faced some family issues at some point, the couple managed to remain connected, They have also shared that they faced racial discrimination while looking for a home in suburban Philadephia.
