Canadian businessman, Bruce Rockowitz is the co-founder of the Pure Group and the chairman of Rock Media International. He was married to singer Coco Lee until her death on July 5, 2023. Bruce’s wife died a couple of days after she attempted suicide at her residence in Hong Kong. They were married for almost 12 years.
Although they had no children together, Coco Lee was stepmother to Bruce’s two children from his previous marriage to Jennifer Woo.
Who is Bruce Rockowitz?
Bruce Rockowitz was born in 1958 in Boston, Massachusetts. He grew up in Boston but later relocated to Hong Kong.
He attended the University of Vermont before he dropped out to play tennis professionally. He played in Hong Kong in 1979 before he was made head tennis coach at the Hong Kong Country Club.
He switched from playing tennis to business
In 1981, Bruce Rockowitz establish Colby International with Allan Zeman. He worked as the CEO and president of the company until 2000 and later from 2011 to 2014.
He also served as the head of the Global Brands Group and a board member for both Wharton School’s Jay H Baker Retailing Center and the Fashion Institute of Technology.
He is also the co-founder and non-executive chairman of The Pure Group fitness and restaurant chain.
Bruce Rockowitz married Coco Lee in 2011
Rockowitz married Coco Lee on October 11, 2011, eight years after they met at a charity event in Hong Kong. Their wedding, which took place at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, was well attended by several celebrities including Rihanna, Lionel Richie and Bruno Mars, and Alicia Keys.
According to reports, the ceremony cost them about $12 million for hotels and flights for their over 300 guests. During the occasion, Coco released a special song titled I Just Wanna Marry U.
The couple remained married for almost 12 years but they never shared any children. However, Bruce has two daughters, Brittany and Kira, from his first marriage. He was previously married to Jennifer Woo, daughter of billionaire Peter Woo.
Bruce’s wife, who had no biological children, revealed she had been undergoing treatment for IVF.
A couple of years ago, there were rumors that Bruce Rockowitz and Coco Lee had separated but it was never confirmed by the couple. It was also alleged that the Canadian businessman cheated on the singer.
In another report, it was revealed that Coco Lee and Bruce Rockowitz have been living separately for more than two years and were on the verge of finalizing their divorce before she passed.

What Happened to Bruce Rockowitz’s wife Coco Lee?
Coco Lee died on July 5, 2023, at 48. She reportedly attempted to commit suicide on July 2, 2023, at her Hong Kong residence. Sadly. the American-Chinese singer had suffered from depression and was seeking professional help. She had also been healing from a pelvic injury.
Upon her death, her sisters, Nancy Lee, and Carol Lee confirmed the news on social media and requested privacy and respect as they mourn their beloved sister.
It could be recalled that Bruce Rockowitz’s wife, Coco Lee sold millions o albums worldwide and was known for songs such as Reflection from Mulan, A Love from No Doubt Before I Fall In Love, and Do You Want My Love. Also known as the first Chinese ambassador to perform at the Academy Awards, Lee won numerous awards and accolades during her lifetime.
As regards Coco Lee’s inheritance, many sources believe there was bad blood between Coco and Bruce hence the inheritance may only be given to her sisters and her mother. At the time of her death, the singer was reportedly worth over NT$4 billion (RM595 million).
Although Lee and Rockowitz have invested in real estate and property together, sources claim the former has left all her property to her mother.
