Beth Shuey is Sean Payton’s ex-wife and mother of his two children. Born and raised in Morocco, Sheuy married the famous coach in 1992 but they divorced 20 years later in 2012.
Eight years following the divorce, the mother of two found love again. She is now married to a Raleigh NC realtor, James McGuire. Besides being a doting mother and wife, Beth Shuey reportedly worked as a coach and a Court Appointed Special Advocate. She is also the author of Beautiful Ashes.

Beth Shuey’s early life and background
Born to Thomas Milton Shuey and Joyce Antcliff, Beth was raised in Indiana alongside her sister Debbie Shuey Doyle.
During her formative years, she attended North Newton Junior and High School. She subsequently proceeded to Indiana State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing.
Upon graduation, she volunteered as a coach and worked as a Divorce Care Leader at Cross Timbers Church in Texas.
Although she has not disclosed what she has been up to, there are speculations that she is an entrepreneur.
She met her ex-husband Sean Payton in college
The former couple first met at Indiana State University. At that time, Shuey was a student while Payton was a running back and wide receivers coach. After dating for a while, they tied the knot on July 11, 1992.
They welcomed their first child, a daughter Meghan in 1997. Their son, Connor was born in 2000.
When Beth’s ex-husband became the head coach of the New Orleans Saints, her whole family moved to Mandeville, Louisiana. However, their Mandeville home was discovered to be constructed with defective Chinese drywall hence Beth’s husband later became a named plaintiff in a class action against the manufacturer.
Therefore, Beth’s family moved back to Dallas where they bought a home in the Vaquero Club, living close to the likes of Josh Hamilton and the Jonas Brothers. The family resided full-time in Westlake while Sean stayed in the New Orleans area at that time.
The marriage hit rock bottom when Sean’s Bounty scandal and suspension surfaced. Barely before their 20th wedding anniversary, the duo filed for divorce in 2012 at a Tarrant County court.
According to an article by Amomama, the divorce documents stated that their divorce was a result of ‘discord or conflict of personalities that destroyed the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevented any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.
The divorce was finalized in 2014 and Beth was awarded primary custody of their children while her ex-husband paid substantial alimony and child support.

Although her marriage with Sean ended, Beth Shuey continued to share a strong bond with her children.
With her guidance, her daughter Meghan works as a Sports Gild reporter. She had previously worked as the sideline reporter for the Saints.
Her son, Connor is said to be a professional football player. In 2022, he was reported to work at the Saints training camp in the Saints Scouting Department.

Beth Shuey found love again
Sean Payton’s ex-wife has since moved on with her life. She tried to help other divorcees through her work at the Divorce Care group. The group offers support and assistance to families struggling with divorce.
During a book signing, the mother of two met James McGuire and soon afterward, they started dating. On September 20, 2020, Beth married Raleigh NC realtor McGuire. Just like Beth, James had two children whom she became a stepmother to.
Both Shuey and McGuire are passionate about giving back to their community and have been involved in several philanthropic endeavors. The couple runs the Beth Shuey and Jamie McGuire Foundation together.
Her ex-husband has also found love again. In November 2019, he was reportedly engaged to former Miss West Virginia, Skylene Montgomery. Skylene and Payton dated for five years before they tied the knot in June 2021.
Beth’s ex-husband initially retired from coaching in January 2022 but it was only for a year. In January 2023, he became the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Beth Shuey McGuire, as she is now known wrote a book titled Beautiful Ashes in 2022. She currently lives in Raleigh with her husband, Jamie, who has been working with The Jim Allen Group for the past 20 years as a real estate agent.
Together with her husband, Beth enjoys adventuring in nature and hiking. One of the couple’s favorite places is the Blue Ridge Mountains.
